Infant's Ibuprofen Usage: Ibuprofen is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID), which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). it pill is used in children to reduce fever and to relieve minor aches & pain. this drug works by blocking the enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, and fever. do not give this drug to child younger than six months of age unless directed to do so by pharmacist.
How to use Infant's Ibuprofen: Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure out each dose carefully with the dropper provided. Give this pill by mouth with food or immediately after meal as directed. Follow each dose with milk, juice, or formula. Keep children from lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking it drug. dosage is based on your child's weight, medical condition, and response to therapy. Read product instructions to find appropriate dose for your child's weight, or consult pharmacist or physician if you have questions. If repeat doses needed, they are usually given six or 8 hours apart; or as directed by the doctor. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), it may take up to 2 weeks, taken regularly, before full benefits of this drug take effect. If you giving this medication to kid for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult the doctor immediately if symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, worsen or last for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Infant's Ibuprofen side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify healthcare professional or physician promptly. Tell doctor immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of the hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Tell the doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, simple bruising or bleeding. Tell pharmacist immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. this drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from stomach or intestines. If you notice any of the next unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult healthcare professional or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks love coffee grounds. this drug may sometimes cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any about next highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult the doctor or pharmacist immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact the healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Infant's Ibuprofen Precautions: this tablet should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult the healthcare professional or doctor if your kid has: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib). Before using it medication, tell the doctor or healthcare professional you're child's medical history, especially about: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), history about an allergic reaction with symptoms of lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies in addition to those listed above. this medication may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as this may intensify the side effects of this medication. this medication may make you more sensitive to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. this product may contain sugar. Caution is advised if you have diabetes. Ask the healthcare professional or pharmacist about safe use of this product. Caution is advised when using this med in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects about drug, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. this tablet should be used only when clearly needed during first six months of pregnancy. It's not recommended for use during last 3 months of pregnancy due to potential for fetal and serious damage & interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. it medication passes into breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Infant's Ibuprofen drug interactions: Before using this medication, tell the pharmacist or pharmacist of every prescription and nonprescription products your child may use, especially of: alendronate, other medications for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, hypertension medications (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, & beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib), 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). check all prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully since much contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or naproxen) which are similar to it med. Ask physician or healthcare professional of safe use of those goods. don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Infant's Ibuprofen Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.
Infant's Ibuprofen special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor your child's progress or check for side effects. Consult physician for more following info.
If you missed Infant's Ibuprofen dose: If you are prescribed it medication on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') and you miss dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is near time of following dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Infant's Ibuprofen Storage: Store in room temperature according to product directions away from light and moisture. do not store at bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children & pets.
