Gelusil Usage: this is an antacid that works in the stomach to neutralize and reduce acid. Antacids used to treat an upset stomach caused by heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach; to treat peptic ulcer, hiatal hernia or other conditions caused by an excess of stomach acid; and to prevent ulcers or bleeding from ulcers.
How to use Gelusil: Take this tablet as prescribed. Taking too many an antacid can reverse the effects & more acid will be secreted. in certain conditions, however, it may be necessary to take antacid as frequently as every 1 to 2 hours. To be effective, chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed by a full glass about water. Shake liquid forms well before pouring each dose. don't take any another med within 1 to two hours about taking an antacid. since antacids coat stomach, they can prevent other medications from being absorbed properly if taken at same time.
Gelusil side effects: this drug can cause nausea, loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhea, weakness, or headache. If these symptoms persist or become severe, notify some your doctor. Notify youre doctor if you notice black, tarry stools while taking this drug. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or healthcare professional.
Gelusil Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist you're medical history, especially of: kidney problems.
Gelusil drug interactions: Tell your physician of all prescription & nonprescription pills you may use, especially of: tetracycline, ferrous sulfate (iron), pills used for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, indomethacin), digoxin, isoniazid, pseudoephedrine, diazepam, methenamine, ketoconazole. don't start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Gelusil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include dizziness, fatigue, weakness, severe nausea & vomiting, loss about appetite, drowsiness, slow or shallow breathing, or loss about consciousness.
Gelusil special notes: Refrigerating the liquid antacids may improve the taste. don't freeze. If you dislike taste of one antacid, talk to your healthcare professional or physician of switching to a similar product. liquid antacid forms work faster & more effective than the other forms. However, chewable tablets may be more convenient.
If you missed Gelusil dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; don't take if It's almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Gelusil Storage: Store meds, capsules and powdered forms in room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of this drug.
