    Atovaquone/proguanil - oral

    Malarone Usage: Atovaquone/proguanil is combination drug used to treat or prevent malaria.

    How to use Malarone: Take it drug by mouth usually one time daily with food or milky drink; or take as directed by your healthcare professional. some your dosage and how long you will take this medication will depend on the reason for Its use (prevention or active infection). Dosage for children is based on the child's weight & reason for it is use (prevention or active infection). If you vomit within 1 hour of taking this medication, repeat the dose.

    Malarone side effects: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell some your pharmacist immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: loss of appetite, weight loss, unusual fatigue, dizziness. Tell youre healthcare professional immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: severe vomiting or diarrhea, fever, muscle or back pain. An allergic reaction to this pill is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if this occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or healthcare professional.

    Malarone Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially about: kidney problems, previous treatments with this medication, recent severe vomiting or diarrhea, any allergies. If, for any reason, you stop taking it drug before completing entire amount prescribed, consult your healthcare professional promptly. You may need to have different med prescribed. it drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using it drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of medication. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Also use protective clothing, insect repellents, & bed nets if you are pregnant and traveling to an area at high risk for malaria. Discuss all risks & benefits with some your physician. One of meds (proguanil) in this product passes into breast milk. Therefore, consult youre doctor before breast-feeding.

    Malarone drug interactions: Tell you're doctor or pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription meds you may use, especially of: tetracycline, metoclopramide, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin, rifabutin), other goods containing proguanil. this drug may interfere with certain laboratory tests (e.g., transaminases). Make sure laboratory personnel and you're doctors know you use this med. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Malarone Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include stomach pain, rash, hair loss, or scaly skin on palms of the hands and bottom about feet.

    Malarone special notes: do not share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress. Use protective clothing, insect repellents, & bed nets if traveling to an area at risk since malaria.

    If you missed Malarone dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near clock of following dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double the dose to catch up.

    Malarone Storage: Store in room temperature between 36 and 86 degrees F (2 and 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

    Medical alert: you're condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
