    Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with dex-trow-meth-or-fan)

    common brand names: Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM

    Cough Ex Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. it combination med is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Cough Ex: Take this tablet as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed and chance about side effects will be increased.

    Cough Ex side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first few days as you're body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your physician. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop any about these effects while taking it med: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this tablet makes you feel dizzy. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Cough Ex Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional you're medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. since small amounts of this medication found in breast milk, consult some your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Cough Ex drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). don't start or stop any medicine with-out physician or healthcare professional approval.

    Cough Ex Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

    Cough Ex special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed Cough Ex dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Cough Ex Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
