The hectic life of today has made us work like machines and face challenges everyday. We may face various difficult situations to deal with quite often as a part of life. Some people face and handle these situations wisely, whereas there are many of us who may find themselves unable to cop with it, and suffer from panic attacks on finding themselves in such a situation.
There may be various factors which may become reasons or triggers for panic attack in a person. The duration of these panic attacks may vary from person to person. There are certain ways following which you may be relieved from the attacks and their intensity. Following are some techniques to reduce the frequency and intensity of the panic attacks:
Having a regular exercise schedule
A daily schedule of light exercises not only keeps your body fit, but it has a lot to do with your mental health too. It keeps a person relaxed and happy by releasing endorphins into your blood, which is responsible for the feeling of happiness. When your mind is relaxed and your body is healthy, you can face any kind of situations with ease, without getting panicked or over worried.
Curtailing the caffeine intake
Controlling your caffeine intake to the minimum level is helpful in keeping the panic attacks under check and minimizing their frequency. The drinks containing caffeine in them like coffee, some liquors, chocolates, tea etc. increase the heart rate and you feel uncomfortable and may suffer a panic attack.
Quitting smoking
Smoke of the cigarette that goes inside your body adds carbon monoxide in it. This in return makes you feel short of breath and you start doing shallow breathing, which is one of the symptoms of a panic attack. Whenever you face such a situation, try to take deep breaths to relax yourself and the best way to avoid such a situation in future is leaving the habit of smoking forever.
Give yourself a break
Living constantly under stressful environment, without taking a break may result into your having panic attacks. The reason behind this is that stress makes more amount of adrenaline in the blood, which is a cause for panic attacks. To avoid suffering from panic attacks, it is necessary to give yourself a break, by being away from the stressful environment for a while.
Develop optimism
As we have discussed before also, our mind has a lot to do with our having panic attacks or not. If we have a negative attitude and a negative frame of mind, we will not feel confidence in anything that we do. This lack of confidence and our hidden unknown fear of some possible mishap will make us feel extensively fearful and stressful and we go into getting a panic attack. We can easily avoid this by developing a positive attitude towards things. This will require a lot of practice and time. But, over a period of time you will feel that you don’t fear any difficult situation anymore and will be able to find yourself to deal with it efficiently.
