Solu Medrol Usage: Methylprednisolone has various effects on body. it reduces swelling and inflammation. it is used in variety of disorders such as skin diseases (psoriasis, hives), allergic conditions, asthma, respiratory conditions, cancer, blood disorders (anemia), digestive problems, eye disorders, & rheumatic disorders (arthritis, bursitis).
How to use Solu Medrol: Use this medication as prescribed. Follow the dosing schedule carefully. Be sure to ask your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions. If you have been using this drug for long time, don't suddenly stop using it without some your doctor's approval. youre dose may need to be gradually reduced. You may experience extreme fatigue, weakness, stomach upset or dizziness when drug is suddenly stopped. If this medication is injected in to joint, be careful how much of stress you put on that joint, even if It's feeling better. Ask youre healthcare professional how much of you can move the joint while it is healing.
Solu Medrol side effects: may cause dizziness, nausea, indigestion, increased appetite, weight gain, weakness or sleep disturbances These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the drug. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify youre doctor if you experience: vomiting of blood, black or tarry stools, puffing of face, swelling of ankles or feet, unusual weight gain, prolonged sore throat or fever, muscle weakness, breathing difficulties, mood changes, vision changes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Solu Medrol Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, particularly of: liver problems, kidney problems, intestinal problems, heart disease, an underactive thyroid gland, HBP, myasthenia gravis, osteoporosis (brittle bones), herpes eye infection, a history about tuberculosis (TB), seizures, ulcers, blood clots, eye problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). do not have vaccination, other immunization, or any skin test while you taking this tablet unless your doctor specifically tells you that you may. If you have history of ulcers or take large doses about aspirin or other arthritis med, limit you're consumption about alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. this may make you're stomach and intestines more susceptible to irritating effects of alcohol, aspirin, & certain arthritis medications, increasing your risk of ulcers. Report any injuries or signs of infection (fever, sore throat, pain during urination, & muscle aches) that occur during treatment & within 12 months after treatment with this drug. your dose may need to be adjusted or you may need to start taking drug again. If you have diabetes, it drug may increase some your blood sugar level. Test your urine for sugar (glucose) frequently & contact your doctor if sugar is present; some your dose of diabetes tablet & your diet may need to be changed. If youre sputum (the matter you cough up during an asthma attack) thickens or changes color from clear white to yellow, green, or gray, contact some your pharmacist; these changes may be signs of an infection. preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during 1st months about life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the physician immediately should they occur. If possible, preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. this medication can cause growth suppression in infants. Before you use this drug, tell your pharmacist if you pregnant, think that you may be pregnant or wish to become pregnant. If you become pregnant, contact your healthcare professional. Because this drug appears in breast milk, contact your physician before breast-feeding.
Solu Medrol drug interactions: Before you take this medication, tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription meds you taking, especially of: aspirin, arthritis drug, anticoagulants (blood thinners), diuretics ('water pills'), estrogen (e.g., birth control pills), phenytoin, rifampin, phenobarbital, macrolide (e.g., erythromycin), ketoconazole, neostigmine, pyridostigmine, ambenomium, meds used for diabetes. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Solu Medrol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Solu Medrol special notes: Persons taking this drug since long-term therapy should wear or carry identification stating that they are taking a corticosteroid. do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
If you missed Solu Medrol dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as remembered; don't use if it is almost clock since next dose. Instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Solu Medrol Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture, heat and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
