Nitroglycerin Usage: Nitroglycerin relaxes blood vessels allowing more blood to flow through and improving blood flow to the heart. Topical nitroglycerin is used to prevent angina (chest pain). it medication is not for treating an attack about chest pain that has already started.
How to use Nitroglycerin: the ointment is for topical use and comes with applicators to allow for measuring each dose. Spread the prescribed amount in thin, even layer on the chest, arm or thigh. do not rub ointment in to skin. Apply a covering over ointment only if directed to do so by your healthcare professional. Use rubber gloves or wash hands immediately after applying as the med is readily absorbed through skin. To prevent skin irritation, do not apply in same place each day. don't stop using this tablet suddenly without consulting your physician. some conditions may worsen when med is suddenly stopped. your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Nitroglycerin side effects: Headache, dizziness, flushing, rapid heartbeat or restlessness may occur as your body adjusts to medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform youre physician. Headache is often a sign drug is working. Treat headaches with an aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever as recommended by youre physician. If the headaches continue or become severe, notify your doctor. To prevent dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Notify your doctor if you experience: blurred vision, dry mouth, skin rash, nausea. at the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or healthcare professional.
Nitroglycerin Precautions: Before using it medication tell some your doctor youre medical history especially of: heart problems, head injury or surgery, glaucoma, thyroid conditions, anemia, alcohol usage, pill allergies. Use caution engaging at activities that require alertness or in operating machinery if this medication makes you dizzy or drowsy. Alcoholic beverages may increase the risk of fainting or of experiencing dizziness. it medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. it isnot known if this tablet is excreted into breast milk. Consult you're pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Nitroglycerin drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every medications you may use including prescription & nonprescription drugs, especially of: drugs for HBP, certain migraine drugs (ergot alkaloids), sildenafil, high doses of aspirin. don't start or stop any medicine with out physician or pharmacist approval.
Nitroglycerin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, wipe off this medicine. Contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include persistent, throbbing headache; dizziness; confusion; weakness; sweating; changes at heart rate; changes in vision; flushing; nausea; & vomiting.
Nitroglycerin special notes: some persons may develop tolerance to effects about it med over time. Notify you're pharmacist if pill appears to be losing it is effectiveness or if the chest pain continues while taking it med.
If you missed Nitroglycerin dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if Its almost time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Nitroglycerin Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight. Avoid freezing.
