Nitroglycerin Usage: this drug relaxes blood vessels allowing more blood to flow through. it improves blood flow to heart. Oral dose forms used to prevent angina (chest pain). this pill is not for treating an attack of chest pain that is already happening.
How to use Nitroglycerin: this medication is best taken on an empty stomach with full glass of water. Take exactly as prescribed. To be effective in preventing chest pain, you must continue taking it medication even if you feel well. Sustained-release or long acting meds & capsules must be swallowed whole. Crushing or chewing them destroys long action and may increase side effects. don't stop taking this drug suddenly without consulting your pharmacist. few conditions may become worse when pill is suddenly stopped. you're dose may need to be gradually decreased. Notify your pharmacist if the tablet does not appear to be as effective. don't increase your dose or take this more often then prescribed without consulting youre pharmacist.
Nitroglycerin side effects: Headache, dizziness, flushing, rapid heartbeat or restlessness may occur as your body adjusts to the drug. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To prevent dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Notify your doctor if you experience: blurred vision, dry mouth, skin rash, nausea. Headache is often a sign the pill is working. Treat headaches with an aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever as recommended by youre physician. If headaches continue or become severe, notify youre healthcare professional. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Nitroglycerin Precautions: Before using this med tell your pharmacist youre medical history especially about: heart problems, head injury or surgery, glaucoma, thyroid conditions, anemia, alcohol usage, tablet allergies. Use caution engaging in activities that require alertness or in operating machinery if this medication makes you dizzy or drowsy. Alcoholic beverages may increase risk of fainting or about experiencing dizziness. it medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss risks & benefits with your physician. it is not known if it drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Nitroglycerin drug interactions: Tell your doctor of every medications you may use including prescription and nonprescription pills, especially of: medications for hypertension, certain migraine drugs (ergot alkaloids), sildenafil, high doses of aspirin. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Nitroglycerin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fainting, unconsciousness, slow or rapid heartbeat, confusion, fever, or persistent throbbing headache.
Nitroglycerin special notes: some persons may develop tolerance to the effects of it medication over time. Notify your pharmacist if the medication appears to be losing it is effectiveness or if the chest pain continues while taking this drug.
If you missed Nitroglycerin dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if this is almost clock for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Nitroglycerin Storage: Store this medication away from heat or flame. Always keep this pill at Its original container. Keep container closed tightly to avoid moisture.
