Warning: rarely, procainamide can cause serious (sometimes fatal) blood disorders (e.g., agranulocytosis, hypoplastic anemia). Notify your pharmacist immediately if you develop any of the following symptoms: signs of infection (e.g., persistent sore throat or fever), easy bruising or bleeding, or unusual fatigue. it drug may need to be stopped if any about these problems occur. Procainamide must be used only in cases about life-threatening heart arrhythmias. Prolonged procainamide use may result in testing positive (ANA test) for serious skin problem (lupus erythematosus-like syndrome). Notify your pharmacist immediately if you develop skin eruptions (swelling or redness).

Pronestyl Usage: Procainamide is used to treat an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).

How to use Pronestyl: Take it medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. It's important to take each dose at designated time. do not increase your dose, take this more often or skip any doses since improper dosing may lead to worsening about youre condition. Ask your doctor or physician to help you plan a correct & convenient dosing schedule. do not stop taking it drug without consulting your healthcare professional. It's important to continue taking it medication even if you feel well. Sustained-release pills must be swallowed whole. don't crush or chew them or long action can be destroyed & the chance about side effects increased.

Pronestyl side effects: Stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, bitter taste at mouth, or flushing may occur first several days as your body adjusts to drug. If any about these effects continue or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, stomach pain, vomiting, hallucinations, depression, fever, chills, mouth sores, sore throat, skin rash, dark urine, muscle aches, joint pain, simple bruising, breathing trouble. Tell you're healthcare professional immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat. this medication may cause blood disorders. Pronestyl Precautions: Tell some your doctor if you have: pre-existing kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, myasthenia gravis, lupus erythematosus, blood disorders, any allergies (especially to procaine, local anesthetic drugs, or aspirin). a preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in injection form of this medication or in the liquid used to mix injection form of this med (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the 1st months of life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts about benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, LBP, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to physician immediately should they occur. If possible, preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. this tablet should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. since small amounts of this pill found at breast milk, consult some your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

Pronestyl med interactions: Tell your healthcare professional about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially: drug for youre heart, beta-blockers, cimetidine, ranitidine, amiodarone, trimethoprim. Report other meds which affect heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: dofetilide, pimozide, quinidine, sotalol, sparfloxacin, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask your healthcare professional or physician for more details. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Pronestyl Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose include weakness, fatigue, dizziness, quick heartbeat, confusion, & decreased urination.

Pronestyl special notes: some brands of this medication contain wax core which slowly releases the drug in body. this wax core is not digested & may be seen in youre stool. don't be alarmed.

If you missed Pronestyl dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if Its near the time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Pronestyl Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store at bathroom.
