Indocin Usage: Indomethacin treats pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis, gout, bursitis or tendonitis.
How to use Indocin: Shake well before using. Take with food or immediately after meals to prevent stomach upset. Take with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug.
Indocin side effects: Stomach upset is most common side effect. If this persists or becomes severe, notify your physician. Headache, heartburn, lightheadedness, drowsiness, loss of appetite, dizziness, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or nervousness may occur as your body adjusts to it med. Notify your pharmacist promptly if you develop any of next effects while taking it med: vision changes, ringing in ears/loss of hearing. If you notice any of following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this drug and consult some your pharmacist or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks love coffee grounds. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate healthcare professional attention if this occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Indocin Precautions: Tell you're doctor your medical history especially of: liver or kidney disease, blood disorders, ulcers, heart disease, alcohol use, HBP, eye disease, mental/mood disturbances, brain diseases (such as Parkinson's disease), asthma, nasal polyps, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Use caution when performing tasks requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as it may intensify the drowsiness effect of this drug. this medicine may cause stomach bleeding. per day use of alcohol, especially when combined with it medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. check with your healthcare professional or pharmacist for more information. do not take aspirin with out consulting your doctor. check the ingredients of any nonprescription drug you may be taking since much of cough-and-cold formulas contain aspirin. Infrequently, this medication may increase skin's sensitivity to sunlight. If this happens to you, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clothing & use sunscreen. Avoid sunlamps. Caution is advised when this drug is used at elderly. this medication must be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. Use of this drug during the last 6 months of pregnancy isnot recommended. it drug is excreted in to breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Indocin drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every prescription & nonprescription medications you may use, especially of: 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), other arthritis medication, water pills, lithium. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Indocin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing in ears, change in amount of urine, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe headache or loss about consciousness.
Indocin special notes: in arthritis, it may take up to 4 weeks before full effects of this medicine are noted. for best results, this must be taken regularly, as directed by your physician.
If you missed Indocin dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Indocin Storage: Store in room temperature away from sunlight & moisture. do not freeze.
