Intal Usage: this medication is used to prevent asthma attacks. It's not effective in treating an attack 1 time it begins. Cromolyn is also used just before exercising to minimize breathing problems and before exposure to pollutants or substances that cause allergic reactions/breathing problems.
How to use Intal: medication is an oral inhaler. for best results, make sure your doctor or physician demonstrates the proper way to use the inhaler. Shake well before each inhalation. To use inhaler, tilt head back and keep inhaler mouthpiece 2 finger widths from the open mouth. Begin to breathe in slowly then press down on canister to release medication. Continue to inhale taking at pill. Hold your breath for in least ten seconds, then exhale. During second half of breath intake airways more open which helps the medication reach deeper into lungs. If more than one inhalation per dose is needed, wait at least one full minute between inhalations. in chronic asthma, this medication must be used routinely as directed to prevent asthma attacks. it is not useful in stopping an attack at progress. do not use it more often, increase youre dose or stop using this without 1st consulting your doctor. To prevent narrowed airways/wheezing, this pill is usually inhaled 10 to 15 minutes before exposure to causing factors.
Intal side effects: this medication can cause lightheadedness, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, irritated throat, bad taste in the mouth, hoarseness or nausea 1-st few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your healthcare professional promptly if you experience: coughing, wheezing, joint pain, painful urination. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Intal Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, any allergies. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using cromolyn. it is not known if cromolyn is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Intal drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use, especially about: other asthma drugs. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Intal Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Intal special notes: Cromolyn is available as a solution & capsules, both for inhalation. do not share this medication with others.
If you missed Intal dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near time for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Intal Storage: Store inhaler at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not puncture canister as it is under pressure. don't store in the bathroom.
Medical alert: youre condition can cause complications in a medical emergency.
