Erythromycin Usage: this drug is used to treat infections of eye (ophthalmic) or ear (otic).
How to use Erythromycin: Use it as prescribed. Continue using it for the full clock prescribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a reinfection. To apply eye or ear medication, wash hands 1st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the dropper or tube or let it touch affected area. Shake drops well before using. Hold the ointment tube in you're hand since a few minutes to make med flow easier. EYE medication: Tilt you're head back, gaze upward & pull down the lower eyelid to make pouch. for drops, place dropper directly over eye and administer prescribed number of drops. watch downward & gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. With eye ointment, place medication inside the lower lid using sweeping motion. Close eye & roll eyeball. Remove excess ointment with a tissue. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. If you are using another kind of eye medication, wait five to ten minutes before applying. EAR drug: Lie on your side or turn the affected ear upward to make application easier. Place prescribed number of drops in the ear. Avoid touching ear canal. Keep ear tilted for one to two minutes. a small piece about clean cotton may be placed in the ear to prevent drops from escaping.
Erythromycin side effects: this med may temporarily sting when 1st applied. If this effect persists or worsens, inform your doctor promptly. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, redness, swelling or discharge (including eye or ear area), trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Erythromycin Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially: every previous eye or ear problems, if you use contact lenses, any allergies. Vision may be temporarily blurred after applying eye med. Use caution driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. this and all drugs should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy or when breast-feeding. Consult with some your physician if you pregnant or breast-feeding.
Erythromycin tablet interactions: Tell your doctor of every drugs you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: silver preparations, every other eye or ear antibiotic or corticosteroid (e.g., hydrocortisone) drugs. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or doctor approval.
Erythromycin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Erythromycin special notes: Throw away any unused part of your prescription. do not save it to use for another infection. don't allow anyone else to use this medication. the infection may spread to another people if you accidentally contaminate drug.
If you missed Erythromycin dose: If you miss dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use if It's almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Erythromycin Storage: Depending upon the manufacturer, product may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated. Ask your pharmacist. do not store in bathroom. do not freeze.
