Doxycycline Monohydrate Usage: Doxycycline is an antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.
How to use Doxycycline Monohydrate: Take each dose with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. don't lie down for 30 minutes after taking it drug. Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Take this medication 2-3 hours before or after taking any tablets containing magnesium, aluminum, or calcium. few examples include quinapril, didanosine, vitamins/minerals, & antacids. Sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate, iron, & zinc also included. These tablets bind with doxycycline preventing Its full absorption. liquid suspension form of this medicine must be shaken well before using. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Do it by taking the medicine at evenly spaced intervals throughout day and night. Continue to take this tablet until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in relapse of infection.
Doxycycline Monohydrate side effects: this drug can cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, headache or vomiting. If these symptoms persist or worsen, notify you're pharmacist. Very unlikely but report: stomach pain, yellowing of eyes or skin, vision changes, mental changes. Doxycycline increases sensitivity to sunlight. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this pill, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Doxycycline Monohydrate Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: liver problems, kidney problems, allergies (especially tablet allergies), trouble swallowing, esophagus problems (e.g., hiatal hernia, GERD). Use of it med for prolonged or repeated periods may result in secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Doxycycline may make you more prone to sunburn. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen if needed. this drug must not be used by children up to 8 years about age because Its use may permanently discolor their teeth or cause other problems. Caution is advised at older children also. this drug isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using it medication. it drug passes into breast milk & has had undesirable effects on nursing infants. Therefore, Its use isn't recommended while breast-feeding. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Doxycycline Monohydrate drug interactions: Inform your doctor of all medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: vitamins/minerals (e.g., magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, zinc), quinapril, didanosine, bismuth subsalicylate, sucralfate, antacids, other antibiotics, live vaccines, warfarin. this medicine may decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist about another types of birth control. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Doxycycline Monohydrate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Doxycycline Monohydrate special notes: this medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. a different med may be necessary.
If you missed Doxycycline Monohydrate dose: If you should miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the following dose. If it is nearly time since next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose.
Doxycycline Monohydrate Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in bathroom.
