    Doxycycline Usage: Doxycycline is an antibiotic used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections.

    How to use Doxycycline: Take each dose with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this pill. Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Take this drug 2-3 hours before or after taking any drugs containing magnesium, aluminum, or calcium. some examples include quinapril, didanosine, vitamins/minerals, & antacids. Sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate, iron, & zinc are also included. These pills bind with doxycycline preventing It's full absorption. the liquid suspension form of this medicine should be shaken well before using. Antibiotics work best when the amount about medicine in you're body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking the medicine at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in relapse of infection.

    Doxycycline side effects: this drug may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, headache or vomiting. If these symptoms persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist. Very unlikely but report: stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, vision changes, mental changes. Doxycycline increases sensitivity to sunlight. at the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

    Doxycycline Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially about: liver problems, kidney problems, allergies (especially med allergies), trouble swallowing, esophagus problems (e.g., hiatal hernia, GERD). Use of this med for prolonged or repeated periods may result in secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Doxycycline may make you more prone to sunburn. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen if needed. this drug should not be used by children up to 8 years of age because It's use may permanently discolor theyre teeth or cause other problems. Caution is advised in older children also. it drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your physician before using this drug. this drug passes into breast milk & has had undesirable effects on nursing infants. Therefore, Its use is not recommended while breast-feeding. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Doxycycline drug interactions: Inform your doctor of every the medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: vitamins/minerals (e.g., magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, zinc), quinapril, didanosine, bismuth subsalicylate, sucralfate, antacids, other antibiotics, live vaccines, warfarin. this medicine may decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Consult youre physician or pharmacist about other types about birth control. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Doxycycline Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Doxycycline special notes: this medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. a different tablet may be necessary.

    If you missed Doxycycline dose: If you should miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for next dose. If Its nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose.

    Doxycycline Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
