Biaxin Usage: Clarithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections & skin infections. It's also used to treat peptic ulcers at combination with anti-ulcer medication. It's also used to treat ear infections in children.
How to use Biaxin: this medication may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs. Shake well before using. Take each dose followed by fluids. Antibiotics work best when the amount about medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. Continue to take this drug until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the drug too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of infection.
Biaxin side effects: it med may cause stomach upset, nausea, indigestion, loose stools, loss about appetite, vomiting, headache, or strange taste in mouth the 1st few days as your body adjusts to it. If these symptoms continue or become severe, inform your pharmacist. Notify your doctor is you develop: diarrhea. Unlikely but report promptly: dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin, severe stomach pain, mental/mood changes, an irregular heartbeat. in the unlikely episode you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek healthcare attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Biaxin Precautions: Tell you're pharmacist if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially med allergies), liver disease, kidney problems, colitis, stomach problems, heart problems. Use of this tablet for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). do not take any nonprescription meds to treat diarrhea without first consulting your pharmacist or healthcare professional. this medication isn't recommended for use during pregnancy except when no other antibiotic can be used. this drug can potentially cause fetal harm. Consult you're healthcare professional for more details. Small amounts about this med do appear in breast milk, so consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Biaxin medication interactions: it drug should not be used with following medications because very serious, possibly fatal, interactions may occur: cisapride, pimozide, astemizole, terfenadine. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell you're healthcare professional or pharmacist before starting clarithromycin. Before using this drug, tell your physician of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: barbiturates, benzodiazepines (e.g., alprazolam, midazolam, triazolam), carbamazepine, certain protease inhibitors (e.g., lopinavir, ritonavir), cyclosporine, digoxin, ergotamine/ergot- related tablets, live vaccines, omeprazole, phenytoin, theophylline, warfarin, zidovudine, certain tablets for high cholesterol (e.g., lovastatin, simvastatin), sildenafil, tacrolimus, alfentanil, rifabutin, methylprednisolone, cilostazol, bromocriptine, valproate, tolterodine. it medication may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using another methods of birth control with you're doctor. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Biaxin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea.
Biaxin special notes: it med has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give this to someone else. a different medication may be necessary.
If you missed Biaxin dose: Take each dose at scheduled clock. However, if you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near time since following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Biaxin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom. Discard suspension after 14 days.
