Heparin Sodium Usage: this med is an anticoagulant which prevents the blood from clotting. it is used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism & other conditions of blood clotting.
How to use Heparin Sodium: this pill is administered by a health care professional either as an injection or infused slowly in to a vein over period time. Blood tests will be done routinely to determine the appropriate dose.
Heparin Sodium side effects: this drug may cause irritation, pain, redness or swelling at injection site. If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. Notify your physician if you develop signs about possibly allergy: chills, fever, itchy skin, rash. Bleeding must be monitored for this may indicate the dose is too high. Notify your doctor if you experience any of next while using this med: easy bruising, nose bleed, dark and tarry stools, blood in urine, bleeding episode. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Heparin Sodium Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: blood disorders, bleeding episodes, heart disease, ulcers, liver disease, kidney disease, any allergies. preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found at this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the 1st months of life (neonatal period). risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. Elderly persons may be more sensitive to effects of it drug. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with you're physician. it isn't known if this med appears in breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Heparin Sodium drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you take, especially about: blood thinners, aspirin, nitroglycerin, injectable antibiotics. don't start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Heparin Sodium Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unexplained bleeding & bruising, stomach pain or swelling, back pain, blood in urine, vomiting blood, dizziness, & headache.
Heparin Sodium special notes: this tablet is usually administered initially in hospital where some your condition can be monitored closely. Laboratory tests will be done periodically to be sure the drug is working properly and to monitor since possible side effects.
If you missed Heparin Sodium dose: It's important to use each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, contact your physician who will help establish a new dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Heparin Sodium Storage: Store this pill as directed. Properly discard of any unused drug after expiration date.
