    Eptifibatide - injectable

    (ep-tih-fib-ah-tide)

    common brand names: Integrilin

    Integrilin Usage: Eptifibatide is used to help prevent blood clotting that occurs during certain heart conditions (e.g., acute coronary syndrome) or medical procedures (e.g., percutaneous coronary intervention-PCI). it works by preventing platelets in the blood from sticking to each other. When platelets stick to each other, this can cause blood clots that may lead to medical complications.

    How to use Integrilin: Follow all instructions since proper mixing & refer to eptifibatide dosing chart for the recommended IV dosing. If you have questions regarding the use of this medication, consult your doctor. Give this tablet as an initial dose (bolus dose) in to a vein (IV push) followed by an IV infusion as directed by your doctor. the dosage is based on your weight, medical condition and response to therapy. Before using, bucks this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, don't use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your physician.

    Integrilin side effects: Injection site reactions (e.g., minor bleeding, redness, or discomfort) may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify youre doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: easy bruising or bleeding, pink or red-colored urine, black stool, coffee-ground vomit, one-sided weakness, vision problems, confusion, slurred speech. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Integrilin Precautions: this medication isn't recommended since use if you have following medical conditions: active bleeding problems, poorly controlled high blood pressure, certain types of stroke (stroke within 30 days or any history of hemorrhagic stroke), major surgery in the past 6 weeks, severe kidney disease (requiring dialysis). Tell your physician you're medical history, especially of: kidney problems, low platelet counts, bleeding problems (e.g., clotting difficulty; any stomach, eye, brain, or lung bleeding), HBP (hypertension), any allergies. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects about drug. Use caution and/or limit other injections you may receive while being treated with it med. Receiving another injections (IV or IM) may increase youre risk for bleeding. Tell your physician if you are pregnant before receiving this drug. it is not known whether it med passes at to breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Integrilin drug interactions: this tablet isn't recommended for use with another drugs similar to eptifibatide (other GP 2b3a inhibitors such abciximab). Ask your doctor or doctor for more details. Tell your doctor or physician every prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially: other 'blood thinning' drugs (e.g., aspirin, clopidogrel, ticlopidine, dipyridamole, heparin, warfarin, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, or thrombolytics such as alteplase), furosemide injection. Eptifibatide has been used effectively in combination with other 'blood thinners' such as aspirin, clopidogrel, ticlopidine, & anticoagulants such as heparin. Be sure to bucks with you're doctor or healthcare professional regarding which medicines you need to take after leaving hospital. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Integrilin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: trouble breathing, loss of coordination, severe rash and/or bleeding.

    Integrilin special notes: Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., hematocrit, platelet counts) may be performed to monitor your progress.

    If you missed Integrilin dose: If your dose is stopped or interrupted, contact the healthcare professional immediately to establish new dosing schedule.

    Integrilin Storage: Store at a refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 & 8 degrees C) away from light. If necessary, this drug may be stored at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) since no longer then two months (after removal from refrigerated storage). Discard any unused portion of the vials.
