Warning: sometimes, serious (sometimes fatal) liver problems have occurred in patients using this medication. children using it pill who are under the age about 2 years at higher risk to experience liver problems, especially if they also have severe seizure disorder along with mental retardation; using more than one seizure control drug; have body process (metabolic) problems or have brain disorders. If used in these patients, this medication must not be used with additional seizure control drugs. Early signs of liver problems include loss of seizure control, vomiting, unusual tiredness/weakness, loss of appetite, yellowing eyes/skin, or swelling of face. Contact you're healthcare professional promptly if you develop any of these symptoms. Liver tests should be run before & during use of drug. rarely, severe (sometimes fatal) pancreatitis (pancreas inflammation) has occurred during use of this drug. it may progress quickly and may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, & loss about appetite. Contact your physician promptly if you develop any of these symptoms. rarely, severe (sometimes fatal) encephalopathy (decreased mental status) has occurred during use of this med. it has occurred in patients with a specific metabolic disorder (urea cycle disorder). Symptoms may include unusual weakness, vomiting, or mental changes. Contact youre healthcare professional promptly if you develop any of these symptoms. it drug may cause birth defects. Consult your doctor about the use of this medication during pregnancy.

Depakote Er Usage: this tablet is used to prevent migraine headaches & is also used to treat seizures.
How to use Depakote Er: Take exactly as directed by your doctor. If stomach upset occurs, you may take this with food to minimize it effect. Swallow this medication whole. don't chew or crush it. this is important to take all doses on time to keep the level of medication in your blood constant. Take your dose at same time each day.
Depakote Er side effects: Mild stomach pain, loss of appetite, change in menstrual periods, diarrhea, mild hair loss, unsteadiness, dizziness, drowsiness, rash or headache might occur. If any of these effects continue or are bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Very unlikely but report: yellowing eye/skin, blurred or double vision, severe stomach pain, unusual bleeding or bruising. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: unusual weakness, vomiting, mood or mental changes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or physician.
Depakote Er Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional youre medical history, especially of: bleeding disorders, brain disorders, allergies (especially drug allergies). this pill is not recommended for use if you have next medical conditions: liver disease, pancreatitis, certain metabolic disorder (urea cycle disorder). Use caution driving motor vehicles or performing tasks that require alertness if this medication makes you drowsy. Limit some your consumption of alcoholic beverages. Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor that you take this drug. Use with extreme caution at child under two years old as potential for serious liver problems exist. this drug isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your physician before taking it medication. Divalproex passes in to breast milk. the effects on infants is unknown. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Depakote Er drug interactions: Be sure to tell youre doctor of every over-the-counter & prescription drugs you are taking, especially of: another meds for seizures, aspirin, chlorpromazine, anticoagulants ('blood thinners'), cimetidine, mefloquine, drugs used for colds or allergies (antihistamines), sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), sedatives, tranquilizers. it drug may alter certain laboratory test results (e.g., urine ketones). Consult some your doctor or pharmacist. do not start or stop any medicine with-out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Depakote Er Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include deep sleep, irregular heartbeat, & loss of consciousness.
Depakote Er special notes: Lab tests may be done, especially in the 1'st few months, to monitor your progress. do not allow anyone else to take this tablet.
If you missed Depakote Er dose: If you miss a dose, take missed dose as soon as you remember. If It's near time for next dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Depakote Er Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store at the bathroom.
