Consult your physician before using this tablet. Bupropion - oral (byou-pro-pee-on) common brand names: Wellbutrin Bupropion HCL Usage: this medication is used to treat depression. How to use Bupropion HCL: this med may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs. Take doses at regularly scheduled times each day. don't take more or less medication then prescribed & follow some your doctor's instructions carefully. Taking more than recommended dose of bupropion will increase your risk about having a seizure. do not stop taking this drug with out notifying your doctor. since it drug may cause sleeplessness at 1'st, It's best not to take this near bedtime. it may take 4 weeks or more before the full effects about it med are noticed. Bupropion HCL side effects: this drug is generally well tolerated. Dry mouth, headache, increased sweating, nausea/vomiting, constipation, anxiety, fatigue and blurred vision may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional. Report promptly: unusual weight loss or gain, palpitations, agitation, trouble sleeping. Unlikely but report promptly: tremor, dizziness, fainting, mood changes, slowed movements, difficulty urinating, decreased sex drive, drowsiness. Very unlikely but report promptly: seizures, mental problems, fever, muscle aches, yellowing of the eyes or skin. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include trouble breathing, rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or healthcare professional. Bupropion HCL Precautions: Before taking bupropion, tell youre physician if you have: history of seizures or head injury or brain tumor, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, eating disorder, diabetes, alcohol dependence, any allergies, intent to quit smoking. Because about possibility this med will make you dizzy & affect coordination, do not drive or operate machinery until you get used to drug's effects. Limit or avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages; alcohol can increase your risk of seizures. Chronic alcohol users who suddenly stop the intake of alcohol while taking bupropion may increase the risk of having seizures. Suddenly stopping certain tranquilizers (e.g., diazepam, chlordiazepoxide) isn't recommended because doing so may increase risk of having seizures. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug. Tell you're pharmacist if you pregnant or plan to become pregnant before taking this drug. it drug passes into breast milk. Because of potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult some your physician before breast-feeding. Bupropion HCL medication interactions: Before taking bupropion tell some your healthcare professional of all nonprescription & prescription drugs you may use especially: MAO inhibitors (e.g., isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, pargyline, selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone), levodopa, warfarin, ritonavir, adrenaline-like stimulants (e.g., ephedrine), products containing nicotine (e.g., patches or gum). Also report the use of medications which might increase seizure risk (decrease seizure threshold) when combined with bupropion such as phenothiazines (e.g., thioridazine), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), isoniazid (INH), or theophylline among others. Consult youre physician or healthcare professional for details. Excess caffeine intake can increase the chance of seizures with this med. dollars all nonprescription/prescription med labels for caffeine. Consult youre physician or physician. certain product used to help quit smoking contains bupropion. do not take that product while using this one. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Bupropion HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, & loss of consciousness. Bupropion HCL special notes: don't allow anyone else to take it medication. If you missed Bupropion HCL dose: Take any missed dose as soon as possible but not if Its within four hours of next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip missed dose and resume you're regular schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose. Bupropion HCL Storage: Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.

Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Mild depression - chronic fatigue.
Side Effects : Insomnia (causing more fatigue then I had before), lowered concentration, urinary infection, shakiness, mild nervousness, slight dizzinesss, increased heart rate, slightly increased libido.
Review : I was on 150mg for the 1st 7 days and was pretty much of o.k. day I started on 300mg I started feeling nervous and shakey in the late afternoon (after taking this in the morning). next day I was hit with a bladder infection (which is rare side effect of XL) which I am still trying to get rid about. I still feel tired all clock only more so since I can't sleep as well as I did before, causing me to be less able to concentrate & feel love I'm very 'zoned out' which is why I was prescribed it medication to begin with. I am willing to give it the standard '4 week run' that is suggested unless side effects get worse. Based on how I feel now, I will definitely get off of this after 4 weeks unless things get much about better. |

Side Effects : As I read these comments, I decided to cast away any anticipation of side effects. I kept an open mind & remained neutral as far as pinpointing any side effects. I have noticed only one that bothers me. I grind my teeth occasionally, or my jaw will clench now and again.
Review : I had very positive effects with this medicine. After going down list of SSRI's, this was my last hope. I was most recently on Lexapro for two years, which was wonderful for anxiety. Bad for my sex life. That was main reason for switch. After doing so, I had numerous other benefits from this. I came back to life, not realizing how lethargic I had become. I, too started anticipating the mornings like never before. it medicine helps us people with addictive personalities! I recommend anyone who is addicted to anything to give this medicine a try. I think it balances pleasure center of you're brain, so you do not have to substitute other things. I know this has curbed my binge eating, and I really have enough energy to exercise now! good luck to newcomers! Hang at there! |

Side Effects : Taken for depression.
Effects: Snappy/Moody, Better ability to concentrate, tired, and BAD PMS/PERIOD.
Review : Initially it made me feel like Tony Tiger, GRRRRREAT! But alas, nine months of taking 150, & Im graduating to 300 starting tomorrow. the usual effects since me that I have to take it at same time every day or my alertness routine is thrown off. I can count on doing good all morning & then hitting a brick wall around 1:30pm. After a short couch nap, I feel more refreshed. I still tend to be moody/snappy, but after so long, I can beware of how Im feeling & try & curb it. WORST side effect, guys, luckily you wont have to deal with this part, my period! Emotionally wreck PMS & then better, but then physically wreck for few days. Major heavy flow. (sorry so descriptive guys) but wanted to forewarn. Upside, libido is great. Overall, super choice for me, but hopefully upping my dose tomorrow will alleviate the current symptoms. |

Side Effects : Weight loss, increased libido(Good... at the outset(150-300mg)just the weightloss & libido, but since going to 450 5 days ago, I feel fine in morning, then by 11am I feel irritable, easily agitated,even more social anxiety, tremors,my thoughts race, but yet I'm tired at the same time.
Review : I was on it last summer, and at 450 the bad side effects occured, so I went off about it after 5 days. I'm on it again, at 450, the same things occur(mood swing at 11, tremors, can't think straight,racing mind yet tired, major social anxiety).
Please, someone let me know if these side effects will go away if I stick with it...my DR. is out of country until August, & before I bother his stand-in, I was wondering if you guys could let me know what's up. Please, I need some advice! |

Side Effects : Decreased appetite, in first/ weight loss/ increased sex drive/ ringing in ears. all have been worth it to get benefits.
Review : I took Wellbutrin for almost two years. I've taken Wellbutrin XL 300mg for about 6 months. in general, they seem same. the most significant difference is during what would be PMS. I had a very hard time with PMS for about 10 years before I started using Wellbutrin. I was extremely irritable, everything upset me, and my skin tingled. I felt like I just wanted to crawl out of my skin. this was terrible. Those things don't happen anymore. Now only PMS symptoms are just normal bloating & cramps. When I 1st started Wellbutrin XL, I seemed to cry more than normal, but that's pretty much of gone away. I've also lost lot of weight. I stopped taking it for 2 weeks, but had to start back. I experience every of the PMS symptoms described earlier. I hadn't done that at over 2 years. |

Side Effects : I took it to Quit Smoking, ZERO side effects for 3 months, then sudden onset of dizziness, stiff neck, nightmares, balance/walking issues (rear leg muscles trembling), feel love I have Parkinsons disease, I procrastinate more(I did before!), & I feel kind of disconnected - in daze... tightened jaw muscles....

Side Effects : Side effects included headaches, dizziness & nausea, short-term memory loss, general mental fogginess, constipation (for the first 3 days), then diarrhea (for following 2 days), & no noticeable improvement in mood. I did not experience any sexual side effects on WB XL which was excellent news.
Review : Wellbutrin XL seems to have no effect on sexual function (which is great considering Celexa causes big problems in area). I did not see any noticeable improvement in mood or anxiety after of 3 weeks on Wellbutrin XL. I would have continued for longer, but side effects became too many to deal with. |

Female, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : Depression.
Side Effects : 150mg (1 week), then 300mg then 450mg for 8 days now. Dry mouth for first two weeks on the drug, with one day of EXTREME dry mouth before disappearing completely. Slight loss in appetite, moderate increase in libido. Dizziness/nausea for 2 weeks now, HOWEVER may not be related to WbXL. Fatigue/apathy/depression day after skipped dose.
Review : WbXL is the first drug I ever had to be on. Refreshingly activating in 1st, but motivation and activation decreased w/ increased schol stress. several weeks ago took zoloft since a week with 300mg wbxl: became extremely tired/shaky. Nausea started after zoloft but before 450mg wbxl, happens every day now, after eating so could be hypoglycemia (pancreas finally taking revenge). Dreams? I've had vivid dreams every night of my entire life, & there's been no change in that. Def recommend coupling medicine with counseling. |

Side Effects : Itchy skin, jitters, trouble breathing, racing heart, dry mouth, stomach pain, agitation, moments of deep depression & constantly crying, vivid sometimes violent dreams, but worst of every of these, I feel like I have electrical impulses racing around inside of me all day long - very disconcerting.
Review : I'm switching from Cymbalta to WB & have only been on this for matter about days. While I've had moments of extreme clarity & productiveness I haven't felt contentedness I did on Cymbalta. However, unlike Cymbalta, I've expreienced no nausia or exhaustion (the opposite effect has occured). But I'm overwhelmed each evening with extreme emotional responses to everything. & has anyone exprienced this electrical twitching? Please tell me that stops soon. |

Side Effects : Clenching jaw, tension, headache, increased irritability, constipation, dry mouth, tremors--especially after exercise, dizzy and weak spells, decreased sensitivity during sex.
Review : Wellbutrin XL
was added to 30mgs Celexa when my depression intensified due to messy interstate move, period of unemployment, & adjustment to motherhood and new location. Seemed to work at 1st, but now after 3 months it seems like I am taking nothing but Celexa. I cann't increase Celexa dose because 40mgs made me dizzy & sleepy every time. Appears only to have affected my social anxiety, as I seem to be able to act naturally without agonizing over whether I looked or sounded like an idiot. I do, however, want to feel whole lot happier than this--I have nothing to feel unhappy about. My pdoc wants to put me om effexor instead, but I am planning on discussing celexa as an option as well--however, I would love to hear from those of who have had similar experiences. |

Side Effects : Kind of spacy, sleeping all the time for the 1st few days (which isnt so bad because I had not been able to fall asleep before 5am for months before this), maybe joint pain, increased thirst
Review : I was in a really depressed for 6 mos & it got to the point where I wouldnt be able to leave my house or go to gym (did all workouts in home), suicidal thoughts, really morbid. I'm bipolar I so Im also on mood stabilizer lamictal. I havent had any suicidal thoughts at a while... which is good because even when Im manic I am usually still suicidal. Im social again, Im more easily able to feel things & am starting to piece a very broken life back together. ps ive never been someone who has ever belived in tablet, I always thought I could treat every of my problems myself; excercize(6days p wk), juicing jack lalanne style, organic food, whole food vitamins every that stuff & depression would go away, but ive realized manic depression just isnt soemthing I can beat on my own |

Side Effects : Insomnia, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), severe nausea & other gastrointestinal discomfort, headaches, increased anxiety, frequent urination.
Review : this drug has been really great for ADD, but not so good for depression. I find that in morning, I'm really doing great--I can focus, concentrate, & have energy. I can get myself out of the house with-out forgetting important stuff that the ADD always makes me forget. I remember to feed the cat, dry my hair, and brush my teeth, every day.
However, I don't really find that It's helping my depression too much. My anxiety is many worse since starting the drug, & this does take edge off the depression, but doesn't since real make this go away. I'm definitely more anxious & I'm ruminating lot more than I did before.
I am now on the 450mg dosage & find that my insmonia is out of control. since I increased to 450 from the 300mg dosage, I went an entire week with practically no sleep, the normal sleep aids that I use (ambien) are no longer effective, & I'm exhausted every time. I'm nauseous all day long & have headaches on & off every day. I always had a problem w |

Side Effects : ! !!!!!!!!!! I only rated this three so this would be up front.... this drug caused me severe discomfort & bothersome side effects, worse than effexor,lamactil,lithium,buspar,lovvax,depakote,thorazine,effexor,tegratole.....wellbutrins worse!!!!!!!!!!

Had to stop taking it as it caused sudden onset of urinary incontinence. it problem has continued for few time after dicontinuing, and has brought much difficulty & aggrivation in an already bothersome condition. Now not only has my depression persisited but now I have constent urge to urinate & have small amounts of leakage, a very troublesome condidtion. I would think two times before using this medication. I have battled bipolar and depression for 10 years & I have tried lithium, effexor, luvvex,thorazine,buspar,tegratal,zoloft, lamactil, depakote,serequil, & have dealt with an array of side effects but never one as bothersome as this. As many know It's constent trial & error in regards to finding right medication, & through every, wellbutrin, the so called least about side effects has been in my case worst in comparison to every stated above. |

Female, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : Depression.
Side Effects : Initially, I had small amount bit about dry mouth, but this went away after couple weeks. I also had a small amount bit of trouble sleeping, & had very vivid dreams for the first week, but this also went away. I noticed a marked improvement in my depression within week (but I was also beginning cognitive and behavioral therapy, so fast effect might have had to do with combined therapy).
Review : I was really reluctant to start taking antidepressants, & began Wellbutrin only after EXHAUSTIVE research (I am medical student.) I ended up choosing wellbutrin with my healthcare professional because I wanted to avoid weight gain & depressed libido that are often associated with SSRIs. I cannot begin to express how much of it medication has positively affected my life. My depression is now well-controlled, and I feel like myself again. positive side effects are wonderful. I lost three pounds in first month, felt like I had more energy, & my libido came back in full force, to good relief of my boyfriend. the antidepressant quality is subtle in that I don't think it changes way I feel in general (I still have a normal range of emotions) so many as this takes away the irrational intractable sadness that I struggled with for so much years. |

Female, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : Depression and Anxiety Disorder.
Side Effects : During the first 10 days, I felt speedy - constant thirst, hyperactive, insomia, very little appetite & occassional tremors (which really freaked me out). After that, side effects subsided. Now, only experience decreased appetite, constipation, and occassional rage when angry. Positive side effects include smoking & alcohol cessation, weight loss (11 lbs in 6 weeks), increased sexual libido, increased focus & energy.
Review : Am actually taking Wellbutrin SR, not XL, & the generic form. I'm thrilled with Its effectiveness. Not only is my depression getting under control, but I've started to lose the weight I put on while depressed, have regained my libido, stopped drinking alcohol & caffiene, stopped smoking & have more energy. I cann't understand why anyone would choose an SSRI love Prozac or Paxil over Wellbutrin. When I took Prozac I felt numb, had no interest in sex, & gained weight. |

Male, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : Some Depression.
Side Effects : Increased libido(greeeat....), extreme lightheadedness, headaches, high confusion, drowsiness, super high highs & super low lows, more often lows, mood spirals, irascibility greatly increased
Review : I feel numb, basically I dont feel anything where I used to be disappointed at things, I guess thats a plus. Lightheadedness isnot bad although rarely it can really get in the way of everything, otherwise mood overall a slight increase, hoping to watch larger one within next time frame..... my mood now spirals out of control as in if my mood would usually slightly drop I will now spirals downwards to very bottom & start crying & be really bad, on other hand same applies to positive moods, rest of the time im for real easily annoyed....... this is done me alot of excellent, I feel less like buying farm but.... downsides are there...not to be ignored, overall I would give it a 5/5 because it has had dramatic effect on me but be warned by side effects |
