Lomotil Usage: it drug is used to relieve diarrhea.
How to use Lomotil: Take this medication as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take it more often then prescribed. Shake liquid preparations well before using. If diarrhea is not relieved in few days, notify some your doctor.
Lomotil side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, bloating or loss of appetite may occur as your body adjusts to drug. Inform you're physician if you experience: abdominal pain, skin rash. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're pharmacist or physician.
Lomotil Precautions: Before using this drug, tell your physician your medical history especially of: chronic lung disease, colitis, liver disease, alcohol use, any drug allergies. Use caution when performing tasks requiring mental alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcohol use because this may intensify the drowsiness & dizziness effects about this drug. Before surgery, including dental surgery, tell healthcare professional that you are taking it medication. Diphenoxylate can be habit-forming. Stopping the medication suddenly after taking high doses or after taking it over long time can cause withdrawal. Symptoms of withdrawal include muscle and stomach cramps, unusual sweating, nausea & vomiting, & shaking or trembling. this tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. this drug is excreted into breast milk. Though, to date, no problems have been noted in nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding,
Lomotil drug interactions: Tell your physician of all prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic cough or pain relievers (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants. don't start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Lomotil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include initially dryness of skin & mucous membranes, restlessness, flushing, rapid heart, followed by lethargy, coma, pinpoint pupils, & slowed breathing.
Lomotil special notes: do not allow anyone else to take it pill.
If you missed Lomotil dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Lomotil Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of this med. Follow label warnings regarding whether or not to refrigerate. Keep out of reach of children.
