Chemet Usage: this medication is used for treatment of lead poisoning.
How to use Chemet: Take this medication by mouth, generally for a 19 day course of treatment, as directed by your doctor. If further treatment is necessary, it will usually begin after two week break. don't take this medication for longer then 3 weeks without a break. number of courses of treatment is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. Take this pill exactly as prescribed. do not stop using this medication unless told to do so by you're doctor. If patient is unable to swallow capsules, the capsules may be opened & the contents sprinkled on soft food or placed on spoon and taken with fruit juice. Drink plenty about fluids while you are on this medication.
Chemet side effects: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, loose stools, metallic taste in mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, watery eyes & headache may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects: blood in stool, back or stomach pain, tingling or numbness of hands or feet, rash, mouth sores. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: irregular heartbeat, change at amount of urine, persistent sore throat, persistent fever. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Chemet Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, including: kidney or liver disease, previous treatment for lead poisoning, any allergies. it medication may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medication can lower body's ability to fight an infection. Notify your physician promptly if you develop any signs about infection such as fever, chills, or persistent sore throat. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. It's not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Chemet med interactions: Tell your doctor of all prescription & nonprescription tablets you may use, especially about: other chelating agents (e.g., calcium EDTA). Also report any medications you take that can cause drowsiness, such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). cash labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and- cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your physician about the safe use about those products. it medication may interfere with certain lab tests. Notify laboratory personnel that you using it medication. it tablet can cause false positive results for ketones in urine when using certain reagent strips (e.g., Ketostix). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or doctor approval.
Chemet Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose include loss of appetite, vomiting, & blood at vomit or stool.
Chemet special notes: do not share this med with others. Its important to remove source of lead exposure. Consult you're doctor or pharmacist for guide on identifying & avoiding sources of lead exposure. Blood lead levels, laboratory and medical tests will be performed to monitor for side effects or response to treatment.
If you missed Chemet dose: If you miss dose, consult your pharmacist or pharmacist to establish new dosing schedule.
Chemet Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 77 degrees F (15 - 25 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
