Cyproheptadine HCL Usage: this pill is an antihistamine that provides relief of symptoms of seasonal & nonseasonal allergies such as watery and itchy eyes, runny nose and sneezing. It's also used to relieve itching and hives due to some skin conditions.
Cyproheptadine HCL canbe used also for: this medication may also be used for a hormone disorder (Cushing's syndrome), sexual function problems due to certain pills, & eating disorders (anorexia nervosa).
How to use Cyproheptadine HCL: Take this drug by mouth, usually two to three times daily, or use as directed by youre doctor. You may take it drug with food to minimize stomach upset. Dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. Use this med regularly in order to get most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at same times each day.
Cyproheptadine HCL side effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, upset stomach, constipation, increased appetite, weight gain, thickening of mucus in nose/throat, or dry mouth/throat/nose may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes, pounding or irregular heartbeat, difficulty urinating. Tell youre healthcare professional immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: stomach pain, yellowing eyes & skin, dark urine, unusual tiredness. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial healthcare professional attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or doctor.
Cyproheptadine HCL Precautions: this drug should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your physician or pharmacist if you have: glaucoma (narrow angle), stomach problems (e.g., peptic ulcer, stomach/intestinal obstruction), urinary problems (e.g., enlarged prostate, bladder obstruction). Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist youre medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, overactive thyroid, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizure disorder, any allergies. this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness, get up slowly when rising from seated or lying position. Caution is advised when using it drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the medication. do not use this pill in infants. Caution is advised when using this drug in kid because they may be more sensitive to side effects of the drug, especially to excitement & seizures. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. it isnt known if it med passes into breast milk. Due to the potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using this medication isn't recommended.
Cyproheptadine HCL drug interactions: Before using this pill, tell your healthcare professional or doctor of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine), SSRI anti-depressants (e.g., fluoxetine, citalopram), other allergy drugs. Before using this drug, tell your physician or healthcare professional of every pills you may use that cause drowsiness such as: medicines since sleep (e.g., sedatives), tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, other antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). cash labels on every youre medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist of the safe use about those goods. Because it medication may affect allergy testing, you may have to stop It's use for several days before tests are performed. Consult youre doctor for further instructions. this med can affect results of certain lab tests (pituitary-adrenal response). Cyproheptadine HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose in child may include mental/mood changes, excitement, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adults may include severe drowsiness or loss of consciousness, which may be followed by excitement or seizures.

If you missed Cyproheptadine HCL dose: If you miss a dose, use this as soon as you remember. If It's near time of following dose, skip the missed dose and resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Cyproheptadine HCL Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. don't freeze oral solution. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from kid and pets.
