    Catapres Usage: Clonidine relaxes and expands (dilates) blood vessels. this is used to treat HBP (hypertension).

    Catapres can be used also for: it med may also be used to ease withdrawal symptoms associated with long-term use of narcotics, alcohol & nicotine (smoking). other possible uses to treat Tourette's syndrome, migraine headaches, stomach pain with rectal bleeding (ulcerative colitis), or hot flashes associated with menopause. it drug may also be used for other purposes as determined by you're doctor.

    How to use Catapres: Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Try to take it at same times each day. do not stop taking this medication with-out consulting you're healthcare professional. few conditions may become worse when drug is abruptly stopped. some your dose may need to be gradually decreased. pills may be taken with food or milk to avoid stomach irritation. it is important to continue taking this drug even if you feel well. most person with high blood pressure do not feel sick.

    Catapres side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue, nasal congestion and dry eyes may occur first some days as some your body adjusts to medication. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Inform you're pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, difficulty breathing, difficulty urinating, skin rash, swelling of hands or feet, yellowing about the eyes or skin. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Catapres Precautions: Tell you're physician if you have any medical conditions, especially: heart or circulatory problems, depression. Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the physician about your blood pressure drugs. Limit intake of alcohol. Clonidine should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. it drug is excreted into breast milk. Though, to date, no problems been found in nursing infants, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    Catapres drug interactions: Tell your doctor of all prescription & nonprescription medications you may use, especially of: cough-and-cold goods, beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol, timolol), meds used for depression (e.g., amitriptyline, imipramine). do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.

    Catapres Overdose: Accidental overdose of clonidine is an increasing cause of poisoning in children 3 & under. If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed heartbeat, weakness, sleepiness, vomiting, & constricted pupils.

    Catapres special notes: it is important to have you're blood pressure checked regularly while taking it drug. Learn how to monitor your blood pressure. Discuss it with some your doctor. do not allow anyone else to take this drug.

    If you missed Catapres dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if It's almost time for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Catapres Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in bathroom.
