    Benazepril with thiazides - oral

    Warning: this med can cause serious serious harm (possibly death) if used during the last six months about pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact some your pharmacist immediately.

    Lotensin Hct Usage: it drug is used to treat HBP (hypertension). this medication is a combination about two medications (an ACE inhibitor and a thiazide 'water pill'/diuretic). Benazepril works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. the thiazide diuretic increases the amount about urine you make, therefore decreasing excess water & salt in your body. high blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

    Lotensin Hct canbe used also since: this medication may also be used to treat congestive heart failure and to help protect kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

    How to use Lotensin Hct: Take this medication by mouth, usually one time day; or as directed by your pharmacist. You may take this medication with or without food. Use this medication regularly in order to get the majority of the benefit from it. To help you remember, use it in the same time each day. Drink adequate fluids to prevent from becoming dehydrated. If you are on restricted fluid intake, consult your doctor for further instructions. do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking to your doctor or physician first. this medicine can infrequently raise or lower your potassium blood levels, which sometimes can cause serious side effects such as muscle weakness/cramping or very slow heartbeats. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if these effects occur. dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. for treatment of high blood pressure, it may take 2 weeks before full benefit of this tablet occurs. it may take few weeks or months to watch full benefit when this drug is used for congestive heart failure. this is important to continue taking this drug even if you feel well. most people with high blood pressure don't feel sick. If you also taking cholestyramine or colestipol, take benazepril/hydrochlorothiazide in least 2 hours before either of these drugs.

    Lotensin Hct side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, blurred vision, dry cough, or vomiting as youre body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your physician immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual thirst, weakness, confusion, quick heartbeat, fainting, decreased sexual ability, tingling or numbness of the hands/feet, chest pain. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: unusual change in amount of urine (after 1st several days about starting this drug), seizures, signs about infection (e.g., fever, chills, persistent sore throat). this drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immeditial medical attention: yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially of face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or healthcare professional.

    Lotensin Hct Precautions: it drug shouldn't be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your pharmacist or pharmacist if you have: allergies to other ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, lisinopril), history about an allergic reaction which included swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema), urinary problems (inability to make urine or anuria). Before using this tablet, tell your pharmacist or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, severe loss about body fluids (dehydration through excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea), mineral/electrolyte problems (e.g., imbalance of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium), diabetes, strokes, gout, high levels of fats in blood (high cholesterol or triglycerides), asthma, blood vessel disease (e.g., collagen vascular diseases such as lupus, scleroderma), any allergies in addition to those listed above (including allergies to sulfa medications or bee/wasp stings, or exposure to certain membranes used for blood filtering). this medication may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from seated or lying position. Before having surgery, tell your physician or dentist that you taking this medication. Hydrochlorothiazide may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of pill, especially the dizziness effect. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during the 1st three months of pregnancy. it isn't recommended for use during the last 6 months of pregnancy due to the risk for serious fetal harm. Discuss the risks and benefits with you're pharmacist. see also Warning section. Hydrochlorothiazide passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding is not recommended due to the potential harm to the nursing infant. Consult you're physician before breast-feeding.

    Lotensin Hct medication interactions: it drug should not be used with the following drugs because very serious interactions may occur: cisapride, dofetilide. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your pharmacist or physician before starting benazepril/hydrochlorothiazide. Before using this medication, tell your pharmacist or pharmacist about every prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: antidiabetic drugs (e.g., insulin, glipizide), cholestyramine, colestipol, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), diazoxide, drugs which can increase dizziness (e.g., phenobarbital, narcotic analgesics), pills which affected by the acid level in the urine (e.g., amphetamine, methenamine, quinidine), another heart drugs (e.g., digoxin), other high blood pressure medications, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., ibuprofen, indomethacin), potassium supplements (e.g., potassium chloride) or salt substitutes, probenecid, drugs that suppress immune system (e.g., azathioprine). cash the labels on every your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Ask youre doctor about the safe use of those products. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Lotensin Hct Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: unusually fast or slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

    Lotensin Hct special notes: do not share this med with others. Lifestyle changes such as stres reduction programs, exercise & dietary changes may increase effectiveness of this medicine. talk to your physician or pharmacist about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium blood level) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or cash since side effects. Consult your doctor for more details. Have your blood pressure checked regularly while taking this medication. Learn how to monitor your own blood pressure at home. Discuss this with your pharmacist.

    If you missed Lotensin Hct dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near the time of following dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Lotensin Hct Storage: Store at room temperature below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. don't store at the bathroom. Keep every medicines away from child & pets.
