    Lisinopril w/ hydrochlorothiazide - oral

    (lyse-in-oh-pril with hi-dro-klor-oh-thigh-uh-zide)

    Warning: it drug can cause serious serious fetal harm (possibly death) if used during last 6 months of pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact you're healthcare professional immediately.

    Lisinopril Hctz Usage: this drug is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). this medication is a combination of two drugs (an ACE inhibitor and a thiazide 'water pill'/diuretic). Lisinopril works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. the thiazide diuretic increases the amount about urine you make, therefore decreasing excess water & salt in you're body. high blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, & kidney problems.

    Lisinopril Hctz can be used also since: this drug may also be used to treat congestive heart failure and to help protect kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

    How to use Lisinopril Hctz: Take this medication by mouth, usually 1 time a day or as directed by your physician. You may take this drug with or without food. Use this pill regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it in same clock each day. Drink adequate fluids to prevent from becoming dehydrated. If you on restricted fluid intake, consult your doctor for further instructions. do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking to your healthcare professional or pharmacist first. this medicine can infrequently raise or lower youre potassium blood levels, which rarely may cause serious side effects such as muscle weakness/cramping or very slow heartbeats. Tell your pharmacist immediately if these effects occur. the dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. since treatment about HBP, it may take 2 to 4 weeks before the full benefit of it medication occurs. it may take few weeks or months to see the full benefit when this medication is used since congestive heart failure. this is important to continue taking this drug even if you feel well. most person with high blood pressure don't feel sick. If you are also taking cholestyramine or colestipol, take lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide in least two hours before either of these meds.

    Lisinopril Hctz side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, blurred vision, dry cough, or vomiting as you're body adjusts to tablet. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're physician or pharmacist promptly. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual thirst, weakness, confusion, fast heartbeat, fainting, decreased sexual ability, tingling or numbness of hands/feet, chest pain. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: unusual change in amount of urine (after the 1st few days about starting this drug), seizures, signs of infection (e.g., fever, chills, persistent sore throat). it medication may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any of following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if this occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.

    Lisinopril Hctz Precautions: this drug should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: allergies to other ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, captopril), history of an allergic reaction which included swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema), urinary problems (inability to make urine or anuria). Before using this medication, tell youre healthcare professional or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, severe loss of body fluids (dehydration through excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea), mineral/electrolyte problems (e.g., imbalance of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium), diabetes, strokes, gout, high levels of fats in the blood (high cholesterol or triglycerides), asthma, blood vessel disease (e.g., collagen vascular diseases such as lupus, scleroderma), any allergies in addition to those listed above (including allergies to sulfa drugs or bee/wasp stings, or exposure to certain membranes used for blood filtering). it drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Before having surgery, tell your healthcare professional or dentist that you taking this med. Hydrochlorothiazide may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of drug, especially dizziness effect. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during the first three months about pregnancy. It's not recommended for use during the last six months of the pregnancy due to the risk since serious fetal harm. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. see also the Warning section. Hydrochlorothiazide passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding isnot recommended due to potential harm to the nursing infant. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    Lisinopril Hctz drug interactions: this drug should not be used with next medications because very serious interactions may occur: cisapride, dofetilide. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your healthcare professional or healthcare professional before starting lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide. Before using this drug, tell you're physician or physician of every prescription & nonprescription goods you may use, especially of: antidiabetic drugs (e.g., insulin, glipizide), cholestyramine, colestipol, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), diazoxide, drugs which can increase dizziness (e.g., phenobarbital, narcotic analgesics), drugs which are affected by acid level in the urine (e.g., amphetamine, methenamine, quinidine), other heart drugs (e.g., digoxin), other hypertension medications, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., ibuprofen, indomethacin), potassium supplements (e.g., potassium chloride) or salt substitutes, probenecid, meds that suppress immune system (e.g., azathioprine). check labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase you're heart rate or blood pressure. Ask you're pharmacist about safe use about those products. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Lisinopril Hctz Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: unusually fast or slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

    Lisinopril Hctz special notes: do not share this medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise & dietary changes may increase effectiveness of it medicine. talk to youre pharmacist or healthcare professional about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium blood level) should be performed periodically to monitor you're progress or bucks for side effects.     If you missed Lisinopril Hctz dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near clock of next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.
