    Warning: this drug can cause serious and fetal damage (possibly death) if used during the last 6 months of pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact some your doctor immediately.

    Capoten Usage: this pill belongs to group of drugs called ACE inhibitors. this is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). this works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. HBP reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. this medication is also used with another drugs (e.g., 'water pills'/diuretics, digoxin) to treat congestive heart failure, after an acute heart attack to improve survival, & to help protect kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

    How to use Capoten: Take it medication by mouth, usually two to three times a day; or as directed by your doctor. Take this drug on an empty stomach, one hour before meal. Use it drug regularly in order to get the the majority of the benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at same times each day. do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking to your doctor or physician 1st. it medicine can raise your potassium levels, which rarely can cause serious side effects such as muscle weakness or very slow heartbeats. Tell your doctor immediately if these effects occur. the dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. for the treatment of HBP, it may take 2 to 4 weeks before full benefit of this drug occurs. this may take some weeks or months to watch the full benefit when this pill is used for congestive heart failure. it is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. most people with HBP do not feel sick.

    Capoten side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, loss about taste, dry cough or blurred vision as your body adjusts to the pill. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional or pharmacist promptly. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fainting, decreased sexual ability, fast/pounding heartbeat, chest pain. Tell you're doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, signs of infection (e.g., fever, chills, persistent sore throat). it medication may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any about the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially about face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Capoten Precautions: this tablet should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult your physician or pharmacist if you have: allergies to other ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, lisinopril), history of an allergic reaction which included swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema). Before using this drug, tell youre healthcare professional or doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, high blood levels about potassium, heart problems, severe dehydration (and loss about electrolytes such as sodium), diabetes (poorly controlled), strokes, blood vessel disease (e.g., collagen vascular diseases such as lupus, scleroderma), any allergies in addition to those listed above (including allergies to bee or wasp stings, or exposure to certain membranes used for blood filtering). this drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness due to lowering of your blood pressure, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Serious loss of body fluids can also lower your blood pressure and worsen dizziness. Drink adequate fluids to prevent from becoming dehydrated. If you are on restricted fluid intake, consult your pharmacist for further instructions. Be careful not to become too overheated during exercise which can lead to excessive sweating. Consult you're healthcare professional if you experience severe vomiting or diarrhea. it drug may make you more sensitive to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Before having surgery, tell you're physician or dentist that you are taking this drug. Caution is advised when using this pill in elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of the med, especially the dizziness effect. Caution is advised when using it tablet in children because they may be more sensitive to certain effects of drug (e.g., excessive or prolonged decrease in blood pressure, change in amount about urine, seizures). it medication should be used only when clearly needed during first three months of pregnancy. this isn't recommended for use during last six months of the pregnancy due to risk for fetal harm. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. look also Warning section. it med passes in to breast milk. While there have been no reports about harm to nursing infants, consult your physician before breast-feeding.

    Capoten medication interactions: Before using it medication, tell your healthcare professional or healthcare professional of every prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially about: potassium-sparing 'water pills' (diuretics such as amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide), potassium supplements (e.g., potassium chloride) or salt substitutes, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., celecoxib, ibuprofen, indomethacin), lithium, drugs that suppress the immune system (e.g., azathioprine), other HBP medications, other heart medications (e.g., digoxin). check the labels on every your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold goods, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase youre heart rate or blood pressure. Ask your healthcare professional about safe use about those goods. this product can affect the results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel & your physicians know you use this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.

    Capoten Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: unusually quick or slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

    Capoten special notes: do not share this medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes may increase the effectiveness about this medicine. talk to your physician or physician about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium blood level) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or cash for side effects. Consult your pharmacist since more details. Have your blood pressure checked regularly while taking this drug. Learn how to monitor your own blood pressure at home. Discuss this with youre doctor.

    If you missed Capoten dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near the time of next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

    Capoten Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. this is normal for the drug to have slight sulfur-like odor. don't store in bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
