    Lisinopril w/ hydrochlorothiazide - oral

    (lyse-in-oh-pril with hi-dro-klor-oh-thigh-uh-zide)

    common brand names: Prinizide, Zestoretic

    Warning: this drug can cause fetal and serious harm (possibly death) if used during the last 6 months about pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact youre pharmacist immediately.

    Prinzide Usage: this drug is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). this pill is combination of 2 drugs (an ACE inhibitor & a thiazide 'water pill'/diuretic). Lisinopril works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. thiazide diuretic increases amount of urine you make, therefore decreasing excess water and salt in your body. HBP reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, & kidney problems.

    Prinzide can be used also since: this drug may also be used to treat congestive heart failure & to help protect kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

    How to use Prinzide: Take this drug by mouth, usually once day or as directed by your healthcare professional. You may take this drug with or without food. Use this medication regularly at order to get the most benefit from this. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Drink adequate fluids to prevent from becoming dehydrated. If you are on restricted fluid intake, consult your doctor for further instructions. don't take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking to your doctor or physician first. this medicine can infrequently raise or lower your potassium blood levels, which sometimes can cause serious side effects such as muscle weakness/cramping or very slow heartbeats. Tell your pharmacist immediately if these effects occur. dosage is based on youre medical condition & response to therapy. since treatment of hypertension, it may take two to 4 weeks before the full benefit of it drug occurs. it may take several weeks or months to look full benefit when it drug is used for congestive heart failure. It's important to continue taking it medication even if you feel well. most human with HBP do not feel sick. If you are also taking cholestyramine or colestipol, take lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide at least 2 hours before either about these drugs.

    Prinzide side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, blurred vision, dry cough, or vomiting as your body adjusts to drug. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or healthcare professional promptly. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual thirst, weakness, confusion, quick heartbeat, fainting, decreased sexual ability, tingling or numbness about the hands/feet, chest pain. Tell you're doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: unusual change at the amount about urine (after first several days of starting this drug), seizures, signs of infection (e.g., fever, chills, persistent sore throat). it med may sometimes cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any of following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate doctor attention: yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially about the face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Prinzide Precautions: this medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: allergies to other ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, captopril), history of an allergic reaction which included swelling about face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema), urinary problems (inability to make urine or anuria). Before using this tablet, tell youre physician or physician your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, severe loss about body fluids (dehydration through excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea), mineral/electrolyte problems (e.g., imbalance of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium), diabetes, strokes, gout, high levels of fats in the blood (high cholesterol or triglycerides), asthma, blood vessel disease (e.g., collagen vascular diseases such as lupus, scleroderma), any allergies in addition to those listed above (including allergies to sulfa meds or bee/wasp stings, or exposure to certain membranes used for blood filtering). this drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Before having surgery, tell you're healthcare professional or dentist that you are taking it med. Hydrochlorothiazide may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of the drug, especially dizziness effect. it drug should be used only when clearly needed during the 1'st 5 months of pregnancy. it is not recommended for use during the last six months of the pregnancy due to the risk for fetal harm. Discuss risks and benefits with you're healthcare professional. watch also the Warning section. Hydrochlorothiazide passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding isn't recommended due to the potential harm to nursing infant. Consult youre doctor before breast-feeding.

    Prinzide drug interactions: it medication shouldnot be used with following medications because very serious interactions may occur: cisapride, dofetilide. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell you're doctor or pharmacist before starting lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide. Before using this pill, tell your doctor or doctor of all prescription & nonprescription goods you may use, especially of: antidiabetic medications (e.g., insulin, glipizide), cholestyramine, colestipol, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), diazoxide, pills which can increase dizziness (e.g., phenobarbital, narcotic analgesics), drugs which affected by acid level in urine (e.g., amphetamine, methenamine, quinidine), other heart drugs (e.g., digoxin), other HBP drugs, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., ibuprofen, indomethacin), potassium supplements (e.g., potassium chloride) or salt substitutes, probenecid, meds that suppress immune system (e.g., azathioprine). money labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase youre heart rate or blood pressure. Ask your physician about safe use about those products. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or doctor approval.

    Prinzide Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: unusually quick or slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

    Prinzide special notes: do not share it medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise & dietary changes may increase the effectiveness of this medicine. speak to your doctor or healthcare professional about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium blood level) should be performed periodically to monitor youre progress or USD for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details. Have some your blood pressure checked regularly while taking this med. Learn how to monitor your own blood pressure at home. Discuss this with you're healthcare professional.

    If you missed Prinzide dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near time of following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

    Prinzide Storage: Store at room temperature away from light & moisture. Storage temperature ranges differ according to different manufacturers, so consult your pharmacist for more information. do not store in the bathroom. Keep every medicines away from kid & pets.
