Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure.
Side Effects : Fatigue, coughing, out of breath, difficulty exercising, muscle pain on exertion, weakness
Review : I only took lisinopril for four days, it made me feel so bad. I was coughing all the time, and got out of breath very easily. When I tried to exert myself my muscles ached, like they were fighting me every step of the way, and on top about that I felt as weak as kitten. I switched to atenolol and that was much better. Now I'm going to try Benicar.

Male, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : HTN.
Side Effects : Pain radiating from shoulder to fingertips, Chest Tightness, fatigue, dry cough
Review : I was prescribed lisinopril after taking Norvasc for two years, partially due to cost. I was prescribed 20mg. 1st off, anyone taking any drug should immediately cash with lippincott drug following information. this next text told me that the MD should have prescribed 5mg daily and only should have been increased after 6 weeks of use. I can't tell if drug was bad or script information was. I stopped taking it med after 2 weeks with much about effects lingering behind. I know BP drugs to save or extend your life, but whats point if they make you're life suck.

Female, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : High Blood Pressure / Hypertension.
Side Effects : Initially drug lisinopril 10 mg worked to lower my blood pressure, however, after taking it for about 6 weeks- I developed horrible dry hacking cough that keeps me awake at night and makes it impossible for me to do my job as phone rep for customer service, because I keep having to stop and cough during order taking. I have to go off this medicine because I feel horrible & it is detrimental to my quality about life in general. I sympathize with others who sleep with bottles of water following to their bed & with cough drops in they're mouth, & these measures still do not help for very long.
Review : I am amazed that some folks stay on it for long periods of time with such annoying side effects.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : High blod pressure.
Side Effects : Dry cough, unable to sleep. I have had 3 sinus infections for my doctor increased my dosage from 20mg to 40mg. Until reading it website I was not aware dry cough was a side effect. I have had very small amount sleep during the last 2 1/2 months due to the coughing. I have begged the doctor for cough medicine as nothing over the counter has helped. I will stop taking medicine today as I would rather rish heart attack than continue this terrible no sleep existence. Also, I have few choice words for my doctor at my next appointment.

Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Lower BP.
Side Effects : Never knew until today when I went to my dr. that all it COUGHING was from this drug he recently put me on. I've also experienced lightheadedness at times...so much of, in fact, that at times I had to hang onto something to get my balance. I have also areas about paresthesias...like an 'indian burn' on my upper arms & upper back, which come & go. and now I know why I'm TIRED every the clock! Thought my age had finally crept up on me...like all of sudden! Plus, it didn't seem to lower my BP that much of.
I'm changing to Diovan HCT tomorrow. can't wait to get rid of this persistent cough. Will see how this goes.

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : To lower high blood pressure..
Side Effects : Horrible cough, sinus/upper respitory infections (asthmatic bronchitis), fatigue, heart 'flutter', aching feet, over-emotional, weight gain, headaches, ended up in the ER with Angio Edema.
Review : Ended up in the ER with Angio Edema: woke up around 1am with my bottom lip swollen and huge!! ER tried Benadryl & adrenaline, etc. - NOTHING helped - lip got bigger and bigger! Was then admitted to hospital, because they were afraid swelling would block off my breathing. HORRIBLE, scary, & expensive experience. Dr.'s took me OFF of Lisinopril, and put me on to Diovan HCT - whole other nightmare. I will NOT take either of these medications again! Trying to control BP naturally.

Female, Age : 60 and up years old , Reason : High Blood Pressure / Hypertension.
Side Effects : Lisinopril did control my blood pressure beautifully, but I developed a dry cough that got worse over time, preventing me from sleeping, and rarely I couldn't speak with out coughing. Also developed hives, itching, and a skin rash after taking the med for about 6 weeks. in first I thought the cough was an allergy, but looked up side effects about lisinopril and realized it was due to the lisinopril. My son, who is physician, confirmed my suspicions. Today I went to my healthcare professional, who switched me to Diovan/HCT, which isn't supposed to have these side effects. Here's hoping...

Making it impossible to connect my symptoms with the start of this medication. My brother in law is nurse practioner, he suggested I change blood pressure meds. Within 3 days of stopping this medication I was improving. I now take Benacar, no side effects controls my BP and I feel great. Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure.
Side Effects : None - I thought. Now that I have read other comments - I realise that I have had cramp at the calf muscles some times & sore back ( not spinal, but muscles across back -however I am very top heavy - so I put the back pains down to that). My healthcare professional has increased the dosage very very slowly. I started on 5mg, then 10mg, then 20mg & finally 40mg. Only when I was prescribed 40mg - did it make any difference to my readings.Readings textbook now apparently.
Review : When dose increased to 40mg - also prescribed water tablets - 2.5mg Bendroflumethiazide.

Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : To lower my blood pressure.
Side Effects : it was a medicine from hell. I began having many of the symptons that was stated by others such as the hacking cough and mucous. My worst experience was that my larnyx was almost closed up completely by time I got to emergency care they had to expediently poke things down my nose & also my throat. I was told by Dr. if I had not gotten there when I did it would not have been reason to come. Go figure. I wish for others that FDA would remove it med, oh I forgot to say that I have been taking this for about year already.

Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure.
Side Effects : Sudden swelling of larnyx; persistent dry, tickling cough; inability to sleep, waking up to cough multiple times per night, memory loss, constant fatigue, difficulty concentrating, decreased libido.
Review : I was originally taking Inderal for borderline-high BP, but that made me very depressed & lethargic. I started taking Prinivil & I was able to exercise. But of a month after starting, I caught 'cold' & in the middle of the night woke up unable to breathe because my throat had suddenly swollen up. I starting to crawl to phone to dial 911 when it relaxed somewhat & I was able to suck in some air. I didn't know that this type of edema was a side effect about this medication. I kept taking drug (it was better than Inderal) & started to notice that I was coughing frequently. Eventually I didn't seem to notice coughing but just a some fast light coughs per day. But I began to suspect that I was waking up to cough during night. My boss started to give me criticism about my inability to remember things that had happened even the day before and I noticed that I was tired all time, had difficulty concentrating and getting the energy to work.

Side Effects : Dry, hacking cough
Review : I had been taking norvasc until I switched to an HMO. new healthcare professional started me out on a diuretic and lisinopril, but warned that there could be the coughing side effect. We lowered the dosage, but this continued until I insisted the side effect was unacceptable.

Side Effects : the stupid cough
Review : Cough starts as a dry tickle in the back about the throat. Thought it might be post nasal drips but sprays & other pills dried every that up and I still get the tickle. If I drink something, this prevents this, worst episode is the 1 to 3 wake up calls I get from it to go to the bathroom to get drink.

Review : 10mg lowered BP, but side effects were unacceptable. Switched to Cozaar. Will report back on that one soon.

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure.
Side Effects : That hacking cough is driving me crazy. I have been taking Lisinopril-HCTZ for two months. My blood pressure has gone done (though this goes back up when I eat too much Chinese food in week!), but cough is fierce. I am coughing to the point about almost vomiting. I am posting it message because I too was diagnosed with Asthma, but after reading other posts, I am convinced It's the lisinopril. I may simply half my dose & see what happens....

Review : I've been on prinivil for 3-4 years with pretty good control of HPB. I developed dry cough months ago which my dr. suggested was an allergy after doing a chest x-ray. Allergist didn't think it was an allergy & treated me with Biaxin for 10 days thinking it was an upper respiratory infection, cough continued and physcian's asst prescribed Biaxin for another 14 days. Still coughing! My hair dresser suggested I see up side effects of my HPB medicine. Turns out I have 8 of the adverse reactions to prinivil. I'm going to ask the physician to switch medications.

Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : To reduce blood pressure.
Side Effects : DRY COUGH - always thought it was allergies. Diagnosed with and treated for ASTHMA after taking lisinopril for 5 years. Asthma symptoms progressively got worse over the next year with assorted breathing-related chest pains.
Review : Finally after taking only 5mg/day lisinopril with 25mg/day HCTZ for over four years, I cut the lisinopril dose in half to 2.5mg/day & had 70% to 80% reduction in asthma symptoms within two days. I'm now trying 20/mg day Benicar HCT replacing lisinopril and HCTZ.

Side Effects : Coughing to point of vomiting.
Review : My healthcare professional did not inform me that this might happen. once it did, I was diagnosed with asthma instead of identifying Lisinopril as cuprit. As result, I took unnecessary medications & suffered needlessly. I found out from an on line diabetes support group that 'Ace Cough' is as high as 25%. every that suffering since nothing. I didnt even have hypertension!

Review : Was on Lisinopril due to borderline HBP (but possibly just 'white coat' syndrome). Went off of it 10 months ago & was fine up until two weeks ago when BP check was really high. Was put on Norvasc which did nothing to help for week, put back on Lisinopril & immmediately BP was in normal range.
