Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure. Side Effects : Fatigue, coughing, out of breath, difficulty exercising, muscle pain on exertion, weakness Review : I only took lisinopril for four days, it made me feel so bad. I was coughing all the time, and got out of breath very easily. When I tried to exert myself my muscles ached, like they were fighting me every step of the way, and on top about that I felt as weak as kitten. I switched to atenolol and that was much better. Now I'm going to try Benicar. |

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : To lower high blood pressure.. Side Effects : Horrible cough, sinus/upper respitory infections (asthmatic bronchitis), fatigue, heart 'flutter', aching feet, over-emotional, weight gain, headaches, ended up in the ER with Angio Edema. Review : Ended up in the ER with Angio Edema: woke up around 1am with my bottom lip swollen and huge!! ER tried Benadryl & adrenaline, etc. - NOTHING helped - lip got bigger and bigger! Was then admitted to hospital, because they were afraid swelling would block off my breathing. HORRIBLE, scary, & expensive experience. Dr.'s took me OFF of Lisinopril, and put me on to Diovan HCT - whole other nightmare. I will NOT take either of these medications again! Trying to control BP naturally. |

Female, Age : 60 and up years old , Reason : High Blood Pressure / Hypertension. Side Effects : Lisinopril did control my blood pressure beautifully, but I developed a dry cough that got worse over time, preventing me from sleeping, and rarely I couldn't speak with out coughing. Also developed hives, itching, and a skin rash after taking the med for about 6 weeks. in first I thought the cough was an allergy, but looked up side effects about lisinopril and realized it was due to the lisinopril. My son, who is physician, confirmed my suspicions. Today I went to my healthcare professional, who switched me to Diovan/HCT, which isn't supposed to have these side effects. Here's hoping... |

Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : High Blood Pressure / Hypertension. Side Effects : I had severe fatique, fever 99-103,muscle cramps, nasal stuffiness, flu like symptoms. Postive ANA. Weight loss. Review : I took Prinivil for over 5 years. My symptoms didn't start until I had been on Prinivil for about 6-8 weeks. Making it impossible to connect my symptoms with the start of this medication. My brother in law is nurse practioner, he suggested I change blood pressure meds. Within 3 days of stopping this medication I was improving. I now take Benacar, no side effects controls my BP and I feel great. I saw 5 different healthcare professionals of different specialities none about them suggested it may be my blood pressure medication, making me sick. |

Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure. Side Effects : Sudden swelling of larnyx; persistent dry, tickling cough; inability to sleep, waking up to cough multiple times per night, memory loss, constant fatigue, difficulty concentrating, decreased libido. Review : I was originally taking Inderal for borderline-high BP, but that made me very depressed & lethargic. I started taking Prinivil & I was able to exercise. But of a month after starting, I caught 'cold' & in the middle of the night woke up unable to breathe because my throat had suddenly swollen up. I starting to crawl to phone to dial 911 when it relaxed somewhat & I was able to suck in some air. I didn't know that this type of edema was a side effect about this medication. I kept taking drug (it was better than Inderal) & started to notice that I was coughing frequently. Eventually I didn't seem to notice coughing but just a some fast light coughs per day. But I began to suspect that I was waking up to cough during night. My boss started to give me criticism about my inability to remember things that had happened even the day before and I noticed that I was tired all time, had difficulty concentrating and getting the energy to work. |
