Methyldopa Usage: this pill is used for high blood pressure (hypertension).
How to use Methyldopa: Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Try to take it at the same times each day. the tablets may be taken with food or milk to avoid stomach irritation. it is important to continue taking this med even if you feel well. most poeple with HBP don't feel sick. do not stop taking this pill with out consulting youre pharmacist. some conditions may become worse when the drug is abruptly stopped. your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Methyldopa side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, gas, dry mouth, fatigue, & stomach upset may occur the first some days as your body adjusts to medication. Inform your doctor if you develop: chest pain, difficulty breathing, depression, severe stomach cramps, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellowing of skin or eyes, rash. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Methyldopa Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: liver problems, any allergies. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Alcohol may increase dizziness/drowsiness effects of it pill. Limit alcohol intake. Before using it drug, tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Methyldopa is excreted into breast milk. Though they're have been no recent reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Methyldopa drug interactions: Inform your physician of every pills you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: lithium, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline), levodopa, medication for depression, iron supplements, any other blood pressure medications. Consult your doctor or healthcare professional before taking any drugs that increase you're heart rate, such as decongestants often found in nonprescription cough-and-cold products: phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, phenylpropanolamine. Caffeine may increase you're blood pressure. Caffeine canbe found in nonprescription diet drugs, in colas, coffee or tea. Limit caffeine intake. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Methyldopa Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, slowed heart rate, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
