Warning: Cisplatin may cause severe kidney problems or allergic reactions. Hearing loss (more common in children), bleeding problems, a decrease in your body's ability to fight infections (bone marrow suppression) or severe nausea and vomiting may occur as well. the risk about these problems increases as dose or total amount of cisplatin used over time increases. Patients with kidney disease must not use cisplatin. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop any of following symptoms: change in amount about urine, rash, breathing trouble, swelling of face, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, ringing in ears (tinnitus) or hearing loss, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual fatigue, signs of infection such as fever or persistent sore throat, nausea or vomiting.

Cisplatin Usage: Cisplatin is one of a group about meds known as 'alkylating agents'; these meds are also known as cancer meds, chemotherapy, antineoplastics or 'chemo'. They used at the treatment of various cancers to slow or stop growth about cancer cells. a combination of different types of cancer drugs will often be used to achieve better results and minimize side effects.

How to use Cisplatin: it is a potent medication. Use this exactly as prescribed. Tell youre doctor or nurse immediately if you experience pain, burning or redness at the place where injected. If this medication contacts you're skin, immediately and completely wash skin with soap & water. Unless you're pharmacist instructs you otherwise, drink plenty of fluids while taking this drug. it helps your kidneys to remove the drug from youre body & avoid few about the side effects.

Cisplatin side effects: Nausea, vomiting, and loss about appetite common side effects. Nausea and vomiting can be quite severe. in some cases, drug therapy may be necessary to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting. Not eating before you're treatment may help relieve vomiting. Changes at diet such as eating several small meals or limiting activity may help lessen few of these effects. Contact you're doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, painful or difficult urination, blurred vision, dizziness, fainting, trouble walking, simple bruising or bleeding, black, tarry stools, blood in urine or stools, bloody vomit, stomach pain, diarrhea, joint pain, swollen feet or lower legs, sores in mouth or on lips, small red spots on skin, cough, shortness about breath, lower back or side pain, tiredness or weakness, loss of balance, ringing in ears, hearing trouble, fast heartbeat, swelling of face, wheezing, numbness or tingling in fingers or toes, loss of reflexes, loss of taste, confusion, agitation, change in ability to see colors. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or doctor.

Cisplatin Precautions: this pill shouldnot be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: kidney disease. Tell you're healthcare professional some your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, hearing problems, any allergies. Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of drug, especially effects on kidneys & blood cells. Cisplatin isnt recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult some your doctor before using this drug. it med may pass into breast milk. Because cisplatin is powerful drug, breast-feeding while using it drug should be avoided. Because this medication can affect production of sperm in men, a reliable form of birth control is recommended while taking this drug.

Cisplatin drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may use, especially: phenytoin, furosemide, bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, aminoglycosides antibiotics (including neomycin). don't start or stop any medicine with out physician or pharmacist approval.

Cisplatin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, deafness.

Cisplatin special notes: this medication can lower your body's ability to fight an infection. Notify your pharmacist if you develop any signs of an infection such as fever, sore throat, rash, or chills. Avoid touching youre eyes or inside your nose without 1-st washing youre hands. Use caution with sharp objects love safety razors or nail cutters & avoid activities such as contact sports at order to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured. do not have immunizations/vaccinations with-out consent of some your pharmacist, & avoid contact with people who have recently received oral polio vaccine. Regular physician visits important. Frequent blood tests will be done to monitor therapy.

If you missed Cisplatin dose: do not double dose if missed. Contact your doctor.

Cisplatin Storage: Store at room temperature 59 to 77 degrees F (15 to 25 degrees C). do not refrigerate. Protect unopened vial from light. med remaining in vial after first use is stable for 28 days protected from light or since 7 days under fluorescent light.
