Warning: Docetaxel has caused severe allergic reactions and swelling (fluid retention) even with use of preventative medication. Docetaxel should not be used in people who previously had an allergic reaction to this or to other medications containing polysorbate 80. there is an increased risk of life-threatening reactions in people using this pill who have liver problems, who are taking this drug in higher doses, and in patients with NSC lung cancer and history of prior treatment with certain other cancer chemotherapy drugs. If you have low white blood cell count or liver problems, notify youre pharmacist before using docetaxel. Seek immediate healthcare attention if you develop difficulty breathing, swelling, rapid heartbeat, dizziness or faintness, symptoms of an infection (persistent fever, sore throat), easy bruising or bleeding, mouth sores, or skin rash or irritation. your treatment may need to be adjusted or stopped. your physician will closely monitor you while you are using docetaxel. Liver & blood tests should be performed.
Taxotere Usage: it tablet is used to treat certain types of cancer (e.g., breast cancer, lung cancer).
How to use Taxotere: this medication is given by vein (IV), generally over 1 hour, every 3 weeks as directed by your doctor. dosage depends on youre condition & your response to therapy. do not exceed the maximum recommended dose. Prepare for this treatment as directed. Take every prescribed pre-medication (e.g., corticosteroids) as directed to minimize side effects caused by it drug. Follow every instructions for proper mixing & dilution with correct IV fluids. do not shake. Follow all cancer chemotherapy safety precautions. Consult your pharmacist. this pill should be checked visually for particles or discoloration before use. If present, do not use liquid.
Taxotere side effects: Pain or redness in injection site, nausea, or diarrhea may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report promptly: swelling of the hands or feet, unexplained weight gain, weakness, tingling or numbness of the hands or feet, fatigue, fever, chills, sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, sores in the mouth or throat, hair loss, excessive tearing, eye pain, muscle or joint pain, changes in appearance of the nails. Very unlikely but report promptly: chest pain, severe stomach pain, unusually fast/slow/irregular pulse, severe headache, black or bloody stools, fainting, severe pain or redness about the leg, seizures, changes in amount of urine. in unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to it drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Taxotere Precautions: Tell youre doctor youre medical history, including: allergies (especially to polysorbate 80), liver problems, heart problems (e.g., congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, kidney problems, lung problems (e.g., pulmonary effusions), blood problems (e.g., thrombocytopenia, anemia), recent illness, immune system problems (e.g., neutropenia). this drug can lower the body's ability to fight an infection. Notify your healthcare professional promptly if you develop any signs about an infection such as: fever, chills, persistent sore throat. Limit alcohol intake, as this may aggravate certain side effects of this drug (e.g., dizziness). Use caution when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving). this drug isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult you're physician before using this drug, including use of reliable birth control methods during therapy. it isn't known whether this med is excreted in to breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult youre doctor before breast-feeding.
Taxotere medication interactions: Tell some your doctor about all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially: other drugs for cancer, immune system suppressants (e.g., cyclosporine), antihistamines (e.g., terfenadine), azole antifungal drugs (e.g., ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin, troleandomycin). don't start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Taxotere Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Taxotere special notes: Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., blood cell counts & liver function) may be performed to monitor for side effects & response to treatment. Keep all scheduled medical appointments.
If you missed Taxotere dose: If you miss dose, contact youre doctor immediately to establish a new dosing schedule.
Taxotere Storage: Store unopened vials in refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C) away from light & moisture. After mixing & dilution in correct IV fluids, store in proper bottles or plastic bags (consult your physician since details). Discard any unused liquid, following all cancer chemotherapy safety precautions.
