    Cytarabine liposome - injectable

    Warning: in clinical studies, this medication has caused a serious, sometimes fatal, condition called arachnoiditis. this condition is treatable. Therefore, cytarabine liposome must only be given in health-care facility (e.g., clinic, hospital) under close monitoring by a healthcare professional experienced in cancer chemotherapy. Tell your pharmacist immediately if these side effects occur: nausea, vomiting, headache, fever, neck pain or stiffness, or back pain. These symptoms may be related to arachnoiditis or side effects of drug. Consult some your healthcare professional for details.

    Depocyt Usage: Cytarabine liposome is long-acting (sustained-release) chemotherapy medication used to treat a certain type of cancer affecting area around spinal cord (lymphomatous meningitis).

    How to use Depocyt: Use extreme caution when handling and/or mixing it medication. As with other cancer chemotherapy medications, this drug may be harmful if this comes in contact with healthy cells (e.g., skin, muscle). After mixing with correct IV fluids (preservative-free diluent), this drug will contain small particles (suspension). Avoid aggressive shaking of this drug & do not filter it drug. Doing so may make it medicine ineffective. youre doctor will inject this drug directly into the spinal fluid (CSF) over 1 to 5 minutes usually all 14 days or as directed. dosage & length of treatment depends on your medical condition and response to therapy. After few months, you're physician may only give this med all 28 days (maintenance dose). After receiving this drug, you will be instructed to lie flat for 1 hour. other drugs such as dexamethasone will be given before, & for some days following your treatment with this drug to reduce the risk of serious side effects. Learn how to store & discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.

    Depocyt side effects: Nausea, vomiting, or fever may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: headache, tingling or numbness, back pain, neck pain or stiffness, swelling. Tell you're pharmacist immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual weakness/fatigue, simple bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat, mental/mood changes, seizures. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Depocyt Precautions: this drug is not recommended for use if you have following medical conditions: bacterial or viral meningitis. Tell youre doctor your medical history, especially of: any allergies. Because it medication can decrease your immune system function, do not have immunizations/vaccinations with out the consent about your physician & avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines (e.g., oral polio vaccine. Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters and avoid activities that may increase the chance about gettin cut, bruised, or injured. it medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your pharmacist for more details. It's not known whether this drug passes in to breast milk. Because of the potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using this drug isn't recommended.

    Depocyt drug interactions: Tell you're doctor of every prescription & nonprescription drug you may use, especially: digoxin, other cancer chemotherapy medications. this product may affect results of certain lab tests (e.g., white blood cell counts in CSF). Make sure laboratory personnel & your doctors know that you are being treated with this medication. do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.

    Depocyt Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: severe headache/pain, loss of consciousness.

    Depocyt special notes: Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., blood tests) may be performed to monitor your progress and for side effects.

    If you missed Depocyt dose: If you miss a dose or your dosing schedule is interrupted, contact youre healthcare professional promptly to establish a new dosing schedule.

    Depocyt Storage: Before mixing, store the unmixed vial/powder in refrigerator between 36 & 46 degrees F (2 & 8 degrees C). do not freeze. Avoid aggressive shaking of vials. 1 time mixed, use this drug immediately. Discard any unused portion of vial.

    Medical alert: your condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
