Warning: Serious heart problems (QTc interval prolongation) have occurred at patients taking mesoridazine. QTc prolongation can infrequently result in serious, rarely fatal, irregular heartbeats. Consult your doctor or physician for details. Ask for instructions about whether you need to stop any other QTc-prolonging drugs you may be using in order to minimize risk of this effect. Mesoridazine should be used only when treatment with other drugs have failed.

Serentil Usage: Mesoridazine is used to treat mental/emotional condition (schizophrenia) that is untreatable with another medications. it may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to use Serentil: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs unless directed otherwise by your doctor. your dosage is based on your condition & response to the drug. Take this medication exactly as prescribed. don't increase your dose or stop taking this drug with out 1st consulting your pharmacist. Measure carefully & dilute with 4 ounces or more of water, milk, juice or carbonated beverage. this can be mixed into applesauce or pudding. don't dilute with coffee, tea, colas or apple juice because the medication may lose effectiveness. Take immediately after diluting. do not dilute the drug & save for later use. it must be diluted before each dose. in the treatment of mental or emotional conditions, it may take up to two weeks for full benefit to be noticed.

Serentil side effects: Constipation, drowsiness, vision changes, or dry mouth may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: dizziness, difficulty speaking, loss about balance, mask-like facial expression, trembling or shaking, lip smacking or other uncontrollable movements, difficulty urinating, skin rash/discoloration, muscle stiffness. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these highly unlikely but serious side effects occur: yellowing eyes or skin, vomiting, dark urine, hot dry skin, sore throat, stomach pain, unusual bleeding or bruising. Though highly unlikely to occur, notify your physician immediately if you experience any of the following very serious side effects: fainting, irregular heartbeat, confusion, fever, seizures, severe muscle stiffness, increased sweating, prolonged/painful erection. in unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immeditial medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

Serentil Precautions: Tell you're doctor you're medical history, especially: very high or very hypotension, liver disease, heart disease, irregular heartbeat, Reye's syndrome, alcohol or medication dependencies, nervous system problems, blood disorders, any allergies (especially any drug allergies). Use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving or operating machinery. Use of alcohol can cause extreme drowsiness. Avoid alcohol use. it med may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear sunscreen & protective clothing when you are exposed to the sun. this med can reduce sweating making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid strenuous work or exercise in hot weather. Elderly patients are more sensitive to effects of it drug. Use cautiously. children should be monitored closely while using this drug. it med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your physician. Its unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Certain drugs closely related to mesoridazine pass into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Serentil medication interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially: anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drugs, guanethidine, guanadrel, metrizamide, cabergoline, lithium, narcotic pain tablet (e.g., codeine), drugs that help you sleep, muscle relaxants, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), other tablets that can make you drowsy. Report other drugs which affect heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: quinidine, sotalol, sparfloxacin, pimozide, procainamide, amiodarone, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask you're physician or pharmacist for more details. many cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add drowsiness effect. Before using cough-and-cold pills, ask your doctor or healthcare professional about the safe use of those products. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

Serentil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include, restlessness, confusion, excitement, weakness, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, small pupil size, tremors, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, excessive drowsiness, very low body temperature, or seizures.

Serentil special notes: do not share this medication with others.

If you missed Serentil dose: If you miss dose & take 1 dose daily, take this as soon as remembered unless It's almost time for the next dose. in that case, skip missed dose & resume your usual schedule. If you take more than 1 dose daily, take it as soon as possible if it is within an hour or so about the missed dose. If not remembered within an hour, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

Serentil Storage: Store at original container at a room temperature not higher than 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Keep away from sunlight & moisture. don't store in the bathroom. Keep out of reach of children.
