common brand names: Hiprex, Mandelamine, Urex
Hiprex Usage: it tablet is an antibiotic used to treat infection of the urinary tract (kidney, bladder).
How to use Hiprex: Take it drug exactly as prescribed. Take with food to prevent stomach upset. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Cranberry juice or taking vitamin C supplements may be recommended for they acidify urine & make drug more effective. large amounts of milk products or antacids should be avoided. Shake liquid form of this medication well before pouring each dose. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in youre body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. Continue to take this drug until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after few days. Stopping the med too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow and may result in a relapse about infection.
Hiprex side effects: this tablet can cause stomach upset, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, or headache. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your physician. Notify your physician if you develop: skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, painful urination, blood at the urine, mouth sores. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Hiprex Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: kidney or liver disease, any allergies. Methenamine should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Methenamine is excreted into breast milk. Though they're have been no reports (to date) about harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Hiprex med interactions: Tell your pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription pills you use, especially: sulfamethizole, antacids (e.g., bicarbonate), other urine alkalinizers (e.g., acetazolamide). do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Hiprex Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Hiprex special notes: it drug has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. different medication may be needed in those cases.
If you missed Hiprex dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered. If, however, Its almost time for following dose & the dose is two per day, take missed dose & the following dose 5 to 6 hours apart. If dose is 3 daily, take the missed dose & the next dose two to four hours apart. than resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Hiprex Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. don't freeze liquid forms of it tablet. do not store in the bathroom.
