Rescriptor Usage: it drug is used in treatment of infection with HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). It's used in combination with other HIV medications (antiretrovirals) in selected patients.
How to use Rescriptor: Take by mouth exactly as directed, usually three times day with or without food. for ease about use, tablets may be dissolved in water before swallowing. To dissolve the drug, add tablets for following dose to at least 3 ounces (90 cc) of water, allow to stand for a several minutes, & then stir. the liquid should be consumed promptly. the glass should be rinsed and the rinse swallowed to be sure the whole dose of medicine is taken. If taking didanosine or antacids, take them one hour apart from it drug. for anyone with lack of stomach acid (achlorhydria), take this tablet with an acidic beverage (e.g., orange or cranberry juice).
Rescriptor side effects: Headache or nausea might occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your physician. Report to your doctor promptly: rash, itching. Unlikely but report promptly: vomiting, stomach pain, yellowing skin or eyes, fever, trouble breathing, swelling, dizziness/fainting, persistent sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising. Changes in body fat may occur while you taking this drug (e.g., increased fat in the upper back and stomach areas, decreased fat in arms and legs). the cause & long-term effects of these changes unknown. Discuss the risks and benefits of therapy with your pharmacist, as well as possible role of exercise to reduce this side effect. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Rescriptor Precautions: Before taking this drug, tell youre doctor some your entire medical history, including: allergies (particularly drug allergies), liver disease. Report promptly to your healthcare professional: severe rash, rash with symptoms (e.g., fever, blistering, mouth sores, swelling, muscle/joint aches). this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with some your doctor. It's not known whether this med is excreted at to human milk. Avoid breast-feeding to prevent transmission of HIV infection to an uninfected infant. Caution is advised when using this drug in children under 16 years of age.
Rescriptor drug interactions: this drug isn't recommended for use with: rifabutin, rifampin. Ask youre healthcare professional or physician for more details. Tell your pharmacist about all nonprescription & prescription pill you may take, especially: antacids (containing aluminum & magnesium), clarithromycin, fluoxetine, ketoconazole, phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine, terfenadine, astemizole, dapsone, ergot derivatives (e.g., cafergot, ergotamine), alprazolam, midazolam, triazolam, nifedipine-like calcium channel blockers, cisapride, quinidine, warfarin, amphetamines, H2 blockers (e.g., cimetidine), St John's wort, sildenafil, protease inhibitors (e.g., amprenavir), didanosine. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Rescriptor Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Rescriptor special notes: do not share this pill with anyone else. this medication has not been shown to reduce chance of transmitting HIV to others.
If you missed Rescriptor dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's within 2 hours of following dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. It's important not to miss doses of it drug.
Rescriptor Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light & moisture. Keep container tightly closed.
