    Warning: rarely, lamivudine has caused severe (sometimes fatal) liver and blood acid-base problems (lactic acidosis). Immediately notify your doctor if you develop dark urine, unusual fatigue, yellowing of the skin or eyes, rapid breathing, drowsiness, muscle aches, or stomach/abdominal pain. Different brands about this drug have different amounts of active drug. do not switch brands of this drug without first checking with some your healthcare professional. If you have an HIV infection, you should be taking the higher strength dosage. Consult youre doctor or healthcare professional.

    Epivir Usage: Lamivudine is nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor antiviral agent used in combination with other antivirals since treatment of people immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. it works by slowing growth of the virus. this drug is not cure for HIV, nor does this prevent the passing of HIV to others. this medication contains lamivudine. use of lamivudine, abacavir, & tenofovir in combination may not be effective in treating HIV infection. If you currently taking every three of these tablets, youre doctor or healthcare professional should carefully review your treatment plan. Consult your physician or pharmacist for more details.

    Epivir can be used also for: this medication may also be used to prevent HIV after coming in contact with virus.

    How to use Epivir: Take this by mouth exactly as directed usually one time or twice day. Follow youre dosing instructions closely. May be taken with or without food. this medication is much of times given at combination with zidovudine (AZT) for best effects. Follow directions for taking zidovudine carefully.

    Epivir side effects: Headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, insomnia, change in appetite, dizziness, weakness or muscle aches may occur. If these symptoms continue or become severe, inform your physician. Notify your doctor if you experience: a skin rash, fever, chills, stuffy nose, cough, severe weakness, unusual fatigue, stomach pain, tingling of hands or feet, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin, rapid breathing. Changes in body fat may occur while you are taking this pill (e.g., increased fat in the upper back and stomach areas, decreased fat in arms & legs). the cause and long-term effects of these changes unknown. Discuss the risks and benefits of therapy with your doctor, as well as possible role of exercise to reduce it side effect. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Epivir Precautions: Before taking this, tell you're doctor if you have: kidney disease, pancreatic disorders, hepatitis B, any allergies, heart disease, major surgery/infection/injury, liver disease, history of alcohol usage. Liquid preparations of lamivudine may contain sugar (sucrose); caution is advised in patients with diabetes. If you are diabetic, close monitoring about you're blood sugar is recommended as you begin using this drug. Ask your healthcare professional or pharmacist for more details. Caution is advised when using this pill in kid (especially in children with pancreatitis) because they may be more sensitive to the effects about drug. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It's not known if lamivudine is excreted into breast milk. Because breast milk can transmit HIV, do not breast-feed.

    Epivir pill interactions: Tell some your healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription pills you may use, especially of: sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim, lamivudine/zidovudine combination product, abacavir & tenofovir, zalcitabine. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.

    Epivir Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Epivir special notes: this med is not cure for HIV infection but has shown some positive results. the long-term effects unknown at it time. Keep all doctor appointments and scheduled laboratory tests as your condition will be monitored closely. Be aware that this drug does not reduce risk about passing virus to others through sexual contact or blood contamination. this is potent medication which should not be shared. don't allow anyone else to take your medication.

    If you missed Epivir dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is within two hours of following dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. Its important not to miss doses of it drug.

    Epivir Storage: Store the solution in the refrigerator or cool region at a temperature between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 to 25 degrees C) away from heat as directed. Keep it & every tablets out about the reach about kid.
