Viracept Usage: this tablet belongs to class about drugs called protease inhibitors & is used, in combination with other meds, to treat HIV infection.

How to use Viracept: Take exactly as directed with meal or light snack. it is critical to take this pill every day exactly as prescribed. do not interrupt treatment nor take more than prescribed by some your pharmacist. tablets may be swallowed whole, crushed & mixed with food, or dissolved at water. once mixed with food or dissolved in water, use the entire contents immediately. Take exactly as directed.

Viracept side effects: the majority about side effects mild. Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, dizziness or gas might occur. If these continue or bothersome, notify you're physician. Unlikely but report: persistent sore throat, rash, yellowing about eyes or skin, vision problems, unusual fatigue, increased urination or thirst. Changes in body fat may occur while you are taking this medication (e.g., increased fat in the upper back & stomach areas, decreased fat at arms & legs). the cause and long-term effects of these changes unknown. Discuss risks & benefits about therapy with youre doctor, as well as possible role of exercise to reduce this side effect. Very unlikely but report immediately any allergic reaction while taking it drug. Symptoms include: difficulty breathing, itching, fever. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or physician.

Viracept Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: liver disease, allergies (especially drug allergies), blood disorders (hemophilia), diabetes. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before taking this medication. this is not known whether it med is excreted into people milk. HIV-infected mama are advised to avoid breast-feeding in order to protect the infant from becoming infected with HIV. Caution is advised if this drug is used in child under two years about age.

Viracept drug interactions: this medication shouldnot be used with the following drugs because very serious interactions may occur: amiodarone, cisapride, midazolam, triazolam, pimozide, ergot derivatives (e.g., ergotamine, dihydroergotamine), rifampin, quinidine, terfenadine, astemizole, eletriptan, 'statin' meds (e.g., lovastatin, simvastatin). If you currently using any of these drugs, tell your doctor or physician before starting nelfinavir. Tell you're pharmacist of every nonprescription and prescription medication you may take, especially about: rifabutin, carbamazepine, garlic supplements, caspofungin, sildenafil, delavirdine, nevirapine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, medications which suppress immune system (e.g., cyclosporine, sirolimus, tacrolimus), methadone, azithromycin, other protease inhibitors (e.g., indinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir), St John's wort. this med may interfere with effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using another methods of birth control with youre physician. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

Viracept Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Viracept special notes: this med does not cure HIV infection. Patients treated with nelfinavir may continue to acquire 'opportunistic' infections associated with HIV. this drug also does not prevent transmission about HIV to others through sexual contact or blood. don't share this drug with others.

If you missed Viracept dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's within 2 hours of the following dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. it is important not to miss doses of this medication.

Viracept Storage: Store this medication exactly as directed on the packaging.
