Metoprolol - oral extended release

Warning: If you have chest pain (angina) or have heart disease (e.g., coronary artery disease, ischemic heart disease, high blood pressure), do not stop using it drug without first consulting some your doctor. your condition may become worse when med is suddenly stopped. If your healthcare professional decides you should no longer use this drug, you must gradually decrease some your dose according to your doctor's instructions. When gradually stopping this drug, Its recommended that you temporarily limit physical activity to decrease the work on the heart. Seek immeditial medical attention if you develop: worsening chest pain, tightness or pressure in the chest, chest pain spreading to jaw/neck/arm, sweating, trouble breathing or fast/irregular heartbeat.

Toprol Xl Usage: this drug is a beta-blocker used to treat chest pain (angina), heart failure, and high blood pressure. HBP reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, & kidney problems. this drug works by blocking action of certain natural chemicals in your body such as epinephrine on the heart & blood vessels. this results in a lowering of heart rate, blood pressure, & strain on heart.

Toprol Xl can be used also for: this medication may also be used for irregular heartbeats, migraine headache prevention, & after an acute heart attack to improve survival.

How to use Toprol Xl: Take it tablet by mouth usually one time daily, with or right after a meal, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Use it med regularly in order to get the most benefit from this. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. the tablet is scored & can be divided. However, whole or half tablet should be swallowed whole. do not crush or chew the pill before swallowing. this drug is not effective if you use it only when chest pain or a migraine headache occurs. it is very important to take it medication regularly as prescribed to help prevent these conditions. dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. it may take one or two weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. it is important to continue taking it pill even if you feel well. most poeple with high blood pressure do not feel sick. do not suddenly stop taking this drug with out consulting you're doctor. youre condition may become worse when medication is suddenly stopped. Refer to the Warning section.

Toprol Xl side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, tiredness, diarrhea, unusual dreams, trouble sleeping, or vision problems as some your body adjusts to drug. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. it drug may reduce blood flow to your hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Dress warmly & avoid tobacco use. Tell your physician immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: symptoms about very slow heartbeat (e.g., persistent dizziness, fainting, unusual fatigue), bluish discoloration of the fingers and toes, numbness/tingling/swelling of hands or feet, decreased sexual ability, reversible hair loss, mental/mood changes, trouble breathing, cough, unexplained or sudden weight gain, increased thirst, increased urination. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, yellowing skin or eyes, stomach pain, dark urine, persistent nausea. in the unlikely part you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek healthcare attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

Toprol Xl Precautions: this pill shouldnot be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult youre doctor or pharmacist if you have: certain types of irregular heartbeats (e.g., sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block), cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure (overt or decompensated type), certain type of tumor (untreated pheochromocytoma). Before using this med, tell you're healthcare professional or physician your medical history, especially of: heart failure (treated, compensated type), breathing problems (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease), diabetes, overactive thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism), liver disease, blood circulation problems (e.g., Raynaud's disease), skin conditions (e.g., psoriasis), mental/mood disorders (e.g., depression), certain muscle disease (myasthenia gravis), any allergies. Before having surgery, tell your healthcare professional or dentist that you taking this drug. If you have diabetes, this medication may mask fast/pounding heartbeat you would usually feel when your blood sugar level falls too low (hypoglycemia). other symptoms of a low blood sugar level such as dizziness or sweating are unaffected by this drug. this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks (e.g., low birth weight) & benefits with your physician. this pill passes into breast milk. While theyre have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

Toprol Xl drug interactions: this drug should not be used with following medications because very serious interactions may occur: mibefradil, psychiatric meds (phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, thioridazine). If you are currently using any of these drugs, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting this drug. Before using this medication, tell you're doctor or physician of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin), anti-diabetic drugs (e.g., glipizide, glyburide, insulin), barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital), calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, verapamil), cimetidine, epinephrine, general anesthesia, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., indomethacin, ibuprofen), another heart drugs (e.g., amiodarone, digoxin, propafenone, quinidine, intravenous lidocaine), other drugs to treat high blood pressure (e.g., clonidine, hydralazine, reserpine), medications for overactive thyroid disease (e.g., methimazole, propylthiouracil), paroxetine, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), St. John's wort. bucks the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Ask youre doctor about safe use about those products. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Toprol Xl Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusually slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, slow or shallow breathing, weakness, or fainting.

Toprol Xl special notes: do not share this medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes may increase the effectiveness of this medicine. talk to youre pharmacist or healthcare professional about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Have your blood pressure & pulse checked regularly while taking this drug. it may be best to learn how to monitor your own blood pressure & pulse. Discuss this with your healthcare professional.

If you missed Toprol Xl dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near the time of the next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

Toprol Xl Storage: Store at room temperature (77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) away from light & moisture. Brief storage between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

		Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Heart Arrythmia/mitral valve prolap. Side Effects : Constant headache, severe lower leg cramps, moodiness, depression, out of body experience, nausea, dizzyness, shortness of breath Review : I am started taking 12.5 mg took for 4 weeks than went to 25 mg which I have now taken for 2 weeks, I feel lousy. I have told my physician often that I am not able to handle beta blockers, I have taken them for migraines in the past with very poor results. Not only am I experiencing more migraines, I now have a continuous headache. I hate how I feel & plan to discontinue use as soon as I can! this medication is very dissappointing, I felt better with the heart problems than what I do now.

		Female, Age : 60 and up years old , Reason : Cardiomyopathy. Side Effects : Extreme tiredness: having to have two to three 'sleeps' a day, & this lasted for of 8 months, but has now disappeared. Review : My energy levels have improved - can now walk dog up steep hill I could not tackle before - and results about gated test have improved from 31 to 40. Cardiologist has this week increased dosage from 25mg (23.75mg at Australia) to 50, so expect I'll be having to rest again. Took Carvediol (Dilatrend) some years ago but reactions including psoriasis meant doc took me off it.

		Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Control HBP/fast pulse/angina. Side Effects : Tired & sleepy every day & every night, lack of motivation for things I used to enjoy,CONSTANT RINGING in BOTH EARS, short term memory loss, dizziness, shaking & weak feeling much of the time, no energy to exercise or do physical work. Review : I have just quit taking drug after reducing dosage from 100 mg to 75, then 50 then 25, then 0. Took about 3 weeks doing this. Pulse has increased back to around 95 - 105. Hoping other bad side effects will go away eventually. Only excellent result I saw consistently was the pulse stayed around 65 - 80 the majority of the of the time. BP control was inconsistent.

Side Effects : Headache, anxiety (extreme), chest pains, loss of visual, mental clarity, couldn't focus- amazed I didn't cause car accident- as teacher there was no way I could do my job effectively. I felt like crying every time & lost every interest in doing things that I normally love. I also had joint & internal pains, could feel my heat beating way too strongly Review : I was on atenolol, but my doctor tried Toporol XL because Its longer lasting, what a mistake! Be very careful with this medication- until I found it web site, I just thought there was something very not correct with me. I was on 50 mg & after realizing what was happening, while waiting for my atenolol to arrive, I cut my meds in half & most of the worst symptoms disappeared within 24 hours. Am now back on atenolol and felling much better!

		Male, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : Slight heart palpitations. Side Effects : Day one I took it and felt fine every day. Day two I took it. I began to notice few back pain during the day, but nothing too out of ordinary. That night when I tried to sleep, I began having paranoid thoughts, shivers, cold hands and feet, shortness about breath, nervousness, & basically every of this accumulated to giant panic attack. I was really close to taking myself to ER, until I realized that it was most likely reaction to Toprol. I'm only taking 25 mg too. Review : Heard this works wonders for some people...

		Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure. Side Effects : Husband changed into different person. He was strong, happy supervisor. 26 years about marriage never depressed. After taking Toprol. Couldn't sleep, couldn't think straight. Heart palpataions. Extreme cold. Irrational thoughts. Memory loss. You could visibly watch his distress on his face. He felt like he was having breakdown. Got progressively worse. Need to make stronger warnings about this drug. Toprol was only medication he was taking. Does not drink, smoke or do drugs. Healthy eater and exerciser. Gained weight and had trouble functioning in life. Thought he was going insane. Effected his job. Started having anxiety attacks. Extreme mental deterioration.

Review : Being on this was miserable experience. I do not take drugs, because my system has weird reaction to them, & it didnt like Metoprolol at all. Side Effects : Tired, Loopy, short term memory loss, no sex drive, dizzy Review : Aftr 2. years - it did work on 50mg but now, bp is 100/52 in am & 102/66 during day...cut dose down to 25 mg, now have chest pains at the am betwen 4:00-6:00 am - take 25 dose at 7:30...don't like the feeling - wish I didn't have to take at every but palps bother me...veins hurt too along with muscles since I've dropped dose, BP is still not high....so Idea why if you know, please e-mail me.

		Female, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Heart palpitations. Side Effects : Severe leg, feet & hand cramps. Sleeplessness. Listlessness. Depression. Severe stomach swelling. Gained weight rapidly. Have been off pill for less than 2 weeks and am starting to feel 'normal' again! it is amazing. Would not recommend this med as the side effects for few are very severe.

		Male, Age : 20-30 years old , Reason : High Blood Pressure / Hypertension. Side Effects : good side effect: I have noticed significant reduction in migraines. Bad side effects: (I am assuming that these are related to the drug, because on-set of symptoms have resulted since I have been taking the med.) -Shortness of breath; -Increased sensitivity to heat (increased sweating); -Muscle weakness; -Extreme fatigue with semi-strenuous physical activity; -Weight gain & very difficult to lose weight. at first,I didn't notice the extent of side effects. Looking back I can remember being short about breath walking up the stairs to my condo. More recently, mowing the lawn wipes me out & I feel as if I am not taking in enough oxygen (no chest pain or wheezing). Furthermore, I was going gym & had personal trainer and had to stop. I was getting nauseous, light-headed, & became extremely sore (for days) & fatigued (had to go home & sleep). Review : the med has controlled the hypertension. Originally on 100mg for about 10 days. BP dropped too low, felt dizzy and 'foggy'. since then I have been taking 75mg.

Side Effects : Brain fog! confusion, short term memory loss, tingling hands, feet, cold feet & hands, tend to stare off into space every the time..out of it feeling! Review : After being on this tablet 2 months I am weaning off. I was on 50mg originally..am down to 25mg & and goign to cut down to 12.5mg. 		Female, Age : 0-9 years old , Reason : Heart problems. Side Effects : My 75 yr old father in law has been taking 100 mg of Toprol for 3 years now. He went from being fun loving man that LOVED to play golf( they live on a golf course)to lethargic angry forgetfull man. He seems to be lost in his own world, unenergetic,depressed & always complains of muscle pains & dizziness. Toprol has seemed to help with the rhythm about his heart but at cost of having his natural life sucked out of him in the process.We have every tried talking him into seeing his physician about mood changes,fatigue & memory loss & he is refusing, says he just wants to die & get it over with. I'm very very worried. Review : Looking back at the ratings on this page I am seeing that alot of people over the age of 60 taking this medication complaining of short term memory loss. I'm surprised the pharmacists haven't caught onto this yet.

		Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Anxiety,tachycardia. Review : Toprol has really helped me! Last week I went to ER with pulse rate of 170 - BP 150/113. After six hours of trying to bring my heart rate down with Ativan, I was finally given 25mg of Toprol XL via IV - my heart rate at that time was 140, this immediately dropped to 85. Last night similar thing happened again, I went to ER with a severe panic/anxiety attack. My BP was 167/135, pulse 132 I was given 1 mg Ativan & 25 mg Toprol XL within an hour my BP was 120/81 pulse 85. I don't have any history of heart problems and am in good health. I have always had severe anxiety & I feel this drug is great. That in combination with Ativan made me feel very relaxed (not in tired way) I just felt normal & had NO anxiety or rapid heart rate.

Side Effects : Extreme fatigue (couldn't stand up long enough to empty dishwasher), muscle & joint pain and weakness in arms and legs (couldn't even comb my hair, was falling when going down steps. Drastic personality change into a hateful people prone to rage attacks. Multiple rashes (eyelids, central face (like lupus but tested negative), neck, upper chest & upper back, hands. Constipation, abdominal distention, weight gain. Mental fog (short term memory loss, inability to do simple arithmetic--I teach calculus, unable to remember names about poeple I've known since years. Horrible white coating on tongue and bad breath. Fluid drains from ears constantly. Dry, gritty eyes. Difficulty speaking & swallowing. Complete loss of sex drive. Review : doctor refused to acknowledge any of side effects. I quit taking this on my own (and quit going to my quack doctor) almost 18 months ago and have only partially recovered.

		Female, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Heart related Problems. Side Effects : I have been taking this since at least three months and have noticed last two weeks every I do is SLEEP. I don't know if it is the combination about medications I am taking, but I'm 50 years old & feel like I am 100. I also take Digoxin for CHF & Lasix. Is there anyone else out there that is having it problem for this long? & is anyone else concerned that you cannot just STOP taking this medication? I was not told it about Toprol or Digoxin. 		Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Benign Essential Tremor. Side Effects : Beta Blockers often used to treat Essential Tremor. this was 1st pill I tried, now am off to a neurologist for alternative treatment. Side effects on 50 mg per day of Toprol XL were: Severe gruesomely violent nightmares since 5 days straight ( I never have nightmares, never mind this sort), dizziness, confusion, autistic like symptoms in that I found myself rocking a few times when I was alone, upset stomach to extremes. Basically it screwed up my wiring as I put this to the doc. Depression was another one. Due to severe drop in heart rate, which I was unaware about until my follow up visit, I could not exert myself physically with out feeling dizzy or even faint. Was only on the drug 2 weeks. Doc put me on 25 mg for one week and now I am stopped altogether. I still have MILD depressive episodes for no reason at every until I recall (oh yes, Its med). Been only a couple days for discontinueing, feel many better but some effects persist though on a milder level. Until seeing a neurolo

Side Effects : Tired, zombie like Review : I have only been taking this med for 3 days now & im already feeling side affects..I know I am pretty young to be on this stuff, but thats what physician prescribed..I always thought what I had were panic attacks, but then realized after going to ER a few days ago that I really had boughts of Afib, came in to the ER with resting heart rate about 180. Not fun and for real scary...well I do have thoughts of my heart giving out, but im sure thats just usual paranoia. I will stick with the medication for now...

Side Effects : Extreme tiredness, occasional feeling of weakness (like I need to lie down and curl up on floor, no matter where I am), slight feelings of depression (have been medicated in past for depression) Review : I was experiencing almost constant, extreme chest tightness and difficulty breathing, even at rest. I had four weeks of tests, including cardiac cath. this was finally discovered that my heart muscle was working too hard due to heart defect that had gone undiagnosed until now. for taking Toprol, chest tightness and difficuly breathing cleared up almost immediately. Side Effects : I was taking Toprol for 6 months & began having Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) & heart flutters. Thank you all for sharing your experience with it medication. some months ago I decided to stop taking this. I first started taking 1/2 dose for week, then next week I took half of that & than next week 1/2 of that dose. next week I stopped entirely. I immediately felt better, more energy I've lost weight but best of every the number of PVCs started to decrease. I still had them & I was also taking Diovan so about a month later I stopped taking Diovan too. I do not recommend stopping all blood pressure drugs but I had to try to elminate these, to look what was causing the problems with my heart. After stopping the Diovan, I felt of the same, still getting occasional PVCs. As time went by though, I noticed they were coming less & less. it took about a month but I have not had any PVCs at all for awhile now! it seems as though Toprol s Review : I cannot say if my experience applies to everyone but personally I had serious cardiac problems with PVCs while on Toprol. I had to wear holter monitor which also showed this. I am blessed with a wonderful healthcare professional who is supportive & willing to work WITH me to get to root about the problem. She explained that she felt the Toprol slows the heartbeat & that my body was trying to compensate for that. She felt it best that I should not go back to taking Toprol or that class of drugs since she felt my body didn't handle the Toprol well. If you've never had heart flutters & PVCs & started taking Toprol, and are now having heart problems, please cash to look if Toprol might be issue.

Side Effects : Tingling sensation in feet, fatigue in afternoon, weight gain (20lb) Review : Have taken between 100 & 150mg for 18 months, cholesterol and triglycerides have spiked significantly, am trying to control these with diet/exercise. this drug works for me, but side effects a medium nuisance. I take afternoon naps (which I enjoy) & BP is good. every in every, I'd rather not be taking toprol, & am trying to kick up the exercise a bunch to get weight down. No doubt, physical conditioning & diet are the best bet since a variety of reasons, but this drug is tolerable. I walk three miles daily in less than an hour, lift free weights 20 minutes daily, and play competitive table tennis 2 times week since about three hours. should not be gaining weight.

		Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure. Side Effects : I've had almost everything that has been detailed on it list. You are a Godsend! for awhile this seemed that toprol/lotrel had worked on my blood pressure; but I was getting anxiety so cardiologist prescribed klonopin; try kicking that nasty little drug. Anyway first I started having insomnia; no matter how many I exercised, meditated, relaxed or took over counter herbs or meds was still either having real trouble falling asleep or awoke after two hrs. & stayed up for following day. That's why I kept going back to klonopin. Anyway now I've had numbness, twitching, restless leg, erctile difficulties, 'the cough', etc & on top of it all HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. I lost 20 lbs, ran,walked for about an hour 6 days a week; cut my sugar etc. and they had doubled my benazapril, added water med, & aspirin. Generic toprol shit; Guess what, no change! !! I went to ER with the numbness, with the pains, & assorted problems to rule out a cardio incident, or muscle,nerve Review : Sorry for such long entry but you Godsend. Toprol is very nasty stuff as statins. Made me feel like I had arthritis or advanced rheumatism; crestor, zocor, lipitor, all shit. Almost everyone I know reports the same as well as heavy real problems with their liver tests. every it shit has incredible consequences. My folks mess and we hve good genes. Grandma lived till 95. My mom folks 89, 87. My parents have a host about side effects from 13 different drugs.

		Female, Age : 60 and up years old , Reason : Hypertension / High Blood Pressure. Side Effects : Shortness of breath, depression, cold hands and feet. I think it also made my blood pressure go up. Review : I was put on this med after by-pass surgery. After week I began having SOB & coughing. I had fluid in my chest that had to be drawn off & doctor thought this was what was causing my symptoms. I continued to have SOB & coughing. After two weeks fluid was again drawn off my chest. After the following two weeks x-rays were made that showed fluid had cleared up but the SOB and coughing continued. I did research and found that Toprol was probably causing my SOB & coughing. Also my hands & feet were always cold, which was very unusual for me. My blood-pressure was higher than normal. I am now phasing off Toprol and can already see difference in the way I feel. SOB and coughing is much better. My depression & feeling of anxiety is much better already. I will never, ever take this drug again.

		Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Severe hypertension. Side Effects : No side effects so far. (General anxiety over BP numbers, however) Review : Has not lowered BP as I expected. BP average after 2 days is 200/110! Taking 50mg about TLX with 80mg Diovan. Pulse is excellent, 73-88 range. Any experience in how long it might be before seeing numbers change or experiencing side effects? I'm going to follow-up with Dr. after another 5 days and watch if perhaps dosage should be increased. I watch few folks taking much higher doses. Overall good health, work out, eat healthy. Just cannot lick this BP issue! Any commments most welcome. good luck all.

I have tryed 2 times now to ween off it slowly- get large time withdrawal symptoms from it! so bad I was forced to go back on it! then had even more problems! it junk Bloats your belly large clock!! & gives you trapped gas so bad, you may end up in the E.R. for it! Its just Nasty! right now my sides hurt from bloating belly! as you gain waight going off and on drug! & the bloating makes it worse!! im not fat poeple,yet it has formed overhang belly (beer belly) in just months of taking this crap tablet! Im gonna try one more time to see my doctor about this mess! & get off this medication forever! if he wont do it this time.. it is cold turkey for me! person watch out for side effects! it drug is Nasty!

Mentioned it to my doctor and thought it was related to my cholesterol medicine. Typically cholesterol medications improve cognitive ability. it seemed to work initially (100mg), but after 18 months, my BP was still 140/95. After switching to Diovan HCT, my foggy thinking went away & I feel many sharper now. in retrospect it was Toprol XL that was the culprit. a several others on this board cite same side effect. other than this haze, I did not feel any other side effects. I was also on an HCZT water pill.

I started having migraines & pressure on both sides of my head that is unbearable. I have had to go on migraine drug & it isnot helping. I also have lost my sense of taste. Addtitionally I feel love I am at foghalf time. My blood pressure is never consistent it has been staying down in 98/65 range ( on dose about 25/2x) but goes as high as 160 over 120. NO rhyme or reason to this. I too have gained weight & I have no patience with anyone. I teach so it is hard to do. Review : On 50x2 I was fainting so they cut it at half. it was then I lost my taste...maybe cutting the pills was ot good idea?

		Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Initially hyperthyroid now SVT. Side Effects : None. Was put on 25 then 50 1x due to rapid heart rate from hyperthyroid. After thyroidectomy 17 mos ago no problem with heart rate until 1 week ago started hitting 190's for no reason. Put back on this week because of subventricular tachycardia at 50's 2x daily. Review : No problems with the T-XL. Was on 6 mos 1st time, three days this clock. can't say forgetfulness because of T-XL like many since I have noted it more after thyroid removal and relate it to that (being hyperthyroid had Its advantages, never cold or fatigued!)

I've been through a hysterectomy, cancer, cancer treatments, & thyroid removal in th epast 2 years, so I was attributing lot of my symptoms to a combo about all of this. But after reading entries, I now wonder if it is Toprol. I started Toprol just before every about above. I just visited the doc last week complaining of extreme fatigue, weak spells, leg & ankle pitted edema, lack of concentration, confusion, just plain feeling love I can't go on at times. My legs are also very achey & I have ringing in my ears & feeling that I'm lacking air. If there is any possibility every about this is caused from my Toprol, I'll put up with several PVC's any day. I had radiofrequency ablation three years ago to correct thoughsands about PVC's I was having at that time. So I was down to just a few & doc started me on Toprol to help relieve them a couple years ago. I've also gained 20 lbs over the past two years with n Review : it did help PVC's & the blood pressure, but if Its cause of every of my symptoms, ont worth it. I want off!!

I experienced muscle tiredness and could not do as much as I was used to for at least a year. Oddly, dosage seemed to cause strange heart beats whenever I took pill. Was on Ace Inhibitor before, but the coughing from it was a big problem, so my internist switched me to 25g about Toprol XL 50 after week cold turkey where BP went from 125 to 145.BP dropped within week to under 120. Pulse dropped from resting 55 to 45 Review : Have not seen any problems within first month but am watching the pulse. I work out three times week & have not noticed any fatigue or ability to perform.

New cardiologist changed normal medication, Atenolol to Toprol-xl to try to help my heart settle down. When I am tired I feel very cold. Review : it did job - 75mg taken half hour before bed - (eat dinner late & drink lots of water). it lower HBP from 175/110 to 128/78. Before I couldn't sleep, and wake up several times due to headache or chest pounding. Now I sleep very super through night. about a year before drug my hands ached all the time, I thought it was arthritist but they were swollen & now my hands are fine. Side Effects : Just switched to new Toprol Generic meds 3 days ago! from normal real Toprol xl -(hmo new rules/cheap drugs)Iv been fine up to tonight, when I took Tylenol for nasty headache! well it didnt seem to go right, & I was lightheaded & stoned feeling kind of out of body feeling! took about 2hours to leave me before I felt normal again. b.p also went threw the roof! anyone had it problem before? I had taken tylenol with toprol xl (real stuff) before with zero problems! Review : the new Generic Toprol xl seems to have less about a punch on me than the real stuff had? but Im waiting for big hit!as something always happens with b.p tablets generic or real. I did notice also my breathing is not as delayed as before? as with regular toprol xl it tends to delay breathing or slows it down, so when you excell if you can? you tend to huff and puff. as your heart rate is slowed down so much.. as im on 200mg toprol xl. please let me know of problems im doing reserch daily on toprol xl & now on the generic form about toprol xl. thanks

They put me on ativan since anxiety, but told me not to take too many as It's addictive. I am trying to cut down on dosage (I take 100mg). it has made me even more anxious, making my heart race.
