Side Effects : few weight gain 1st couple about years, about 15lbs,tired,
headache, a bit confused on higher dose. it medicine does work
    if done slowly
Review : I started with propranolol 3 times a day for about 6months, then
took 120mg of Inderal LA once per day(to make life easier) That was about 9 years ago.I always felt drugged & confused on that high dose so I decide to try and wean off med. You need to do it very slow as it can cause stress on your heart. I tried to get to 60mg & was unable, miagraines wouldn't stop. I did however get to 80 mg which made me feel better & my miagraines were better. last year my headaches have returned & rarely miagraines that I have put my dose up to 120mg. I'm use to it now but still having headaches. I'm now searching since another drug to add to inderal. If any one is on Inderal LA for number of years be carefull trying to come off of it. I now know I will take it for life as I can't get off of this.

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Migraines.
Side Effects : Extreme exhaustion which subsided after reducing mg
Review : I started taking 80mg & was so tired that I could not get out of bed after sleeping 10-12 hrs per night, but did notice an extreme reduction in my severe migraines. So, under the care of my neurologist, we lowered dosage over month's time & ended up taking 20mg. I have had no side effects & it completely eliminated my migraines for approximately 3 years. I get several now, but infrequently & the severity is much of less then it used to be.

    Side Effects : Fatigue (in beginning), insomnia (early morning awakening), cold in extremities (especially toes), vivid dreams, loss about libido, weight gain (towards the enda??but it was quite welcome);
Review : After three years of compulsive exercise behaviors, I developed arrhythmias that turned my life upside down. Not only did they come with violent headaches, they were so bad that I could not sleep on my left side. They would especially be worse at the early morning hours. My cardiologist prescribed Inderal LA which I took for a year (80mg, once in evenings). the most bothersome side effect was cold in the extremities: my toes would be totally frozen in the winter! Towards the finish, I put on about 10 pounds in 3-4 monthsa??a side effect which was rather welcome but I did not like the sexual side effects or the insomnia that came with Inderal LA. Moreover, I changed insurance & Inderal LA became too expensive for me so I had to switch to the generic propranolol which gave me more side effects (mainly gastrointestinala??which I didnt need). So after a couple about months, my doctor weaned me off with Toprol. I continued to struggle with arrhythmias till recently when my

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Anxiety/panic associated with PTSD.
Side Effects : Feeling slightly light-headed at outset about treatment.
Review : Has greatly reduced 'exaggerated startle response' associated with PTSD. Slows down the progress of anxiety & panic at adrenalin level & therefore has greatly reduced physiological element (flushing, nausea, tummy churning, racing heart, breathlessness) associated with anxiety & panic, enough so that I can face my fears.

    Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Chronic migraine/daily headache.
Side Effects : - Low blood pressure...my blood pressure has always been on low side to normal range. I felt dizzy lot; I didn't pass out, but I often felt like I could. -- Hair loss/Thinning hair! I was shedding every over the place. -- I've been off the medicine for a year now; I've stopped losing hair like I had been; I don't feel love I'm going to pass out anymore; BUT, my migraine symptoms came back slowly of 4 months after I stopped taking the medicine.
Review : My 'migraines' did go away; however when the headaches started coming back, I went to look third neurologist...he diganosed me w/ 'occipital neuralgia' and he put me on Neurontin.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Some Migraines.
Side Effects : Substantial weight gain, tired, lethargic, short of breath when exercising
Review : weight gain is my greatest concern as I've been on the Weight Watchers diet since 5 years and have still gained 20 pounds. I still average 10-15 migraines per month, but they are not nearly as painful & I'm able to get them under control with Zomig. I've tried many other medications, but this is only one that allows me to function without side effects worse then my original problem.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Migraines.
Side Effects : While taking the brandname version of the drug, I noticed slight disruption in my sleep pattern - could not sleep longer than four hours at time. Recently Mail-in pharmacy I used switched me to a generic version & could not sleep at all since few nights. I switched the time I take my dose and that seems to have helped.
Review : I've had migraines about varying intensities for 25 years. Neurogologist started me on this after I experienced transitional migraine which lasted 3 weeks. inderal has reduced my average number of migraines per month from 10 to two & they are very manageable so the drug has really helped with the headaches.

Male, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Migraine, High BP.
Side Effects : Only weight gain, but who wants that? I was getting so discouraged--eating well & exercising but still gaining. Now I find that Its likely Inderal. I do not want to stop--it has reduced my migraines to 2 per month, whereas I was having 6-8 per month. I am on 60mg once per day.
Review : it greatly reduced migraine frequency & helped somewhat with BP (still higher than normal, but better). I am going to speak to my physician of an alternative that does not cause weight gain.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Vasomotor rhinitis.
Side Effects : in one point, dosage was at too big quantity, i.e. LA120mg, & when exposed to personal 'trigger', normally causing intense migraine, I experienced dizziness, followed by actual loss of conciousness, with rapid heart beat & cold sweats after brief few seconds, I was out.
Review : the daily dosage of LA80mg in COMBINATION WITH 20mg about Prozac has virtually eliminated my Vasomotor Rhinitis symptoms. My pharmacist does not truly understand why these two drugs have this effect, but I have been on them since the past 12 years, with no detrimental affects. Only recently, my doctor also advised me to take 4 riboflavin capsules a day to battle the monthly cycle migraine, which I would still, inevitably get. I am on my 3rd month of it regimen, and it does appear to be about substantial value. I have gone through 2 of the three months absolutely migraine free. Also, the B vitamins seem to give me boost in energy. Inderal & Prozac combo is my savoir in life. Prior to these prescriptions, I was forced to avoid cigarette smoke, perfume, diesel, mold, many other 'triggers', and yes, even my personal favorite, 'pets'. Today, I live in a household with 3 dogs, 4 cats, & 2 guinea pigs! I'd call that success.

Review : Would love to wean off of med but migraines return every time; started taking co-enzyme q10 after about five years to counter several of the effects, with some success

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Some Migraines.
Side Effects : Substantial weight gain, tired, lethargic, short about breath when exercising
Review : weight gain is my greatest concern as I've been on Weight Watchers diet since three years and have still gained 20 pounds. I still average 10-15 migraines per month, but they are not nearly as painful & I'm able to get them under control with Zomig. I've tried many of other medications, but this is only one that allows me to function with out side effects worse than my original problem.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : Basilar migraines.
Side Effects : I have definate weight gain, after having lost some 30 pounds at past few years, I have gained it all back, most since being on this medication. Constant thirst, lower than normal blood pressure, so low the Red Cross wouldn't take my blood. I've always been a bad sleeper, but I am having more vivid dreams which wake me. few strange sensations in my nerve endings, i.e. tingling in my extremeties (feels love electrical shocks). Recently I noticed my hair coming out in the comb, which for me with short hair is unusual, not sure if it is the drug or not. Overall I am about ready to come off this medication... but this is my third one, I have been on Depakote and Topomax and I'm tired of all it switching around.
Review : Overall I believe it has helped with my headaces, I take 60 mgs 1X per day. I recently have been feeling like It's working less & less, I do not really want Doc to increase this... it could that all side effects causing me headaches.

    Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Chronic migraine/daily headache.
Side Effects : - Low blood pressure...my blood pressure has always been on the low side to normal range. I felt dizzy lot; I did not pass out, but I often felt love I could. -- Hair loss/Thinning hair! I was shedding all over the place. -- I've been off medicine since year now; I've stopped losing hair love I had been; I don't feel love I'm going to pass out anymore; BUT, my migraine symptoms came back slowly about 4 months after I stopped taking medicine.
Review : My 'migraines' did go away; however when headaches started coming back, I went to look third neurologist...he diganosed me w/ 'occipital neuralgia' and he put me on Neurontin.

Side Effects : Significant weight gain, contributed to depression
Review : I would not recommend this pill in every bc of weight gain. it has not helped my migraines that many, & I have gained almost 40 lbs in 3 months. which is completely not worth it for any drug. my doctor is planning to gradually take me off of it bc you cant just quit taking it every at one time bc of heart issues.

Side Effects : Worst side effect is drowsiness while driving home in night. I almost felt love I was falling asleep. I would pull over & then by the time I finally arrived home I could sleep at least an hour before I was able to do anything.
Review : Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Female, Age : 40-50 years old , Reason : PVC - (abonormal heart beat).
Side Effects : Weight gain, lethargy, vivid dreams
Review : I was prescribed propranolol for abnormal heart beats (60mg/day). I have migraines, and it doesn't affect their duration or severity. I had not changed my diet or exercise pattern, but about 3 years ago I started gaining a lot of weight (probably at least 20 pounds). Lately I have vivid waking dreams almost every night. If I miss a dose, I will experience abnormal heart beat, so I know that ether I need to take less, or try another type of med.

    Male, Age : 50-60 years old , Reason : Headaches & Migraines.
Side Effects : the worst side effect is insomnia. I have to take a sleep aid, like Ambien, to get good night's sleep. Also, several dizziness & cold, tingly hands. But the positives outweigh the negatives. I've only had one headache in the past month. I used to get 10 to 15 per month.
Review : I take 160 mg. dose. I am going to ask my physician if a lower dosage might help with the headaches, but not cause the insomnia.

Female, Age : 30-40 years old , Reason : Rapid Heart Rate.
Side Effects : I feel extreamly tired even after good nights sleep, I wake up feeling tired & lightheaded, almost feel like I am going to pass out, when feeling this way I check my BP and heart rate and they fine. Confused at times over easy things, NO sexual desire at all, awaken by panic attacks, Trouble falling asleep, I feel very sleepy & tired & then cann't go to sleep. I have gained about 30 pounds since starting this pill in 2001. few shortness of breath.
Review : Inderal LA 120 definately took care of rapid heart rate. at resting rate I was around 120-130 BPM, I felt like I was having heart attack my heart would pound so hard. My chest just felt very weird & heavy feeling. I now stay around 80 BMP. I had frequent headaches before starting drug and now very seldom have one. After reading all comments & side effects others have descibed like mine, I will discuss with my doctor.
