    Potassium/sodium acid phosphate - oral 700-305mg

    (poh-tass-ee-um/so-dee-um foss-fate)

    K Phos No two Usage: this medication makes urine more acidic. it is used to prevent formation about calcium kidney stones & to reduce odor & skin irritation caused by high ammonia urine. it may also be used with certain antibiotics to make them more effective.

    How to use K Phos No 2: the usual dosage is one med four times day with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water. the dosage may be increased to one pill all 2 hours, however, no more than eight tablets should be taken in 24 hour period. do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this medication. Take this med as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often without your doctor's approval.

    K Phos No 2 side effects: Stomach upset, loose stools or headache may occur the first few days as you're body adjusts to the drug. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. Notify your doctor if you develop: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fluid retention, convulsions, unusual weakness, mental confusion, dizziness, muscle cramps, rapid or irregular heartbeat, breathing trouble, tingling or numbness of hands or feet. When this drug is started, there is chance an old kidney stone may be passed. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or physician.

    K Phos No two Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, liver disease, Addison's disease, high blood pressure, allergies (especially pill allergies), sodium (salt) restricted diet or use a salt substitute. it tablet must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. since small amounts of this drug are found at breast milk, consult youre pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    K Phos No 2 pill interactions: Tell you're healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, including: aspirin, water pills, potassium supplements, salt substitutes, antacids, steroids or med for high blood pressure. Avoid antacids when using this med because they may prevent It's absorption. If necessary, space dosing of the medication & antacid as far apart as possible. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.

    K Phos No 2 Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    K Phos No 2 special notes: Laboratory tests may be done periodically while taking this drug to monitor Its effectiveness and prevent side effects.

    If you missed K Phos No 2 dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near clock for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    K Phos No 2 Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light & moisture. do not store in the bathroom.
