Cardizem Sr Usage: Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction and in controlling electrical impulses within heart. By blocking calcium, diltiazem relaxes and widens blood vessels & can normalize heart rates. Diltiazem is used to treat chest pain (angina) or HBP.
Cardizem Sr can be used also for: this medication may also be used to treat irregular heartbeats.
How to use Cardizem Sr: capsules may be taken without regard to meals two times daily or as directed. Swallow whole. do not open, chew or crush the capsule. do not stop taking it drug suddenly with-out your doctor's permission. some your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Cardizem Sr side effects: it drug can cause dizziness & lightheadedness especially during the first few days. Avoid activities requiring alertness. When you sit or lie down for while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. You may also experience bloating, heartburn, muscle cramps, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, sore throat, constipation or diarrhea. Inform your physician if they become bothersome. Notify your pharmacist if you develop: breathing difficulties, swelling of hands or feet, an irregular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or physician.
Cardizem Sr Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional youre medical history, especially of: heart problems, liver problems, lung diseases, allergies (especially medication allergies). Limit intake of alcohol while taking this medication. it medication must be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. this drug is excreted into breast milk. If there is no alternative to using it medication you should discontinue breast-feeding. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Cardizem Sr drug interactions: Tell your doctor about all prescription & nonprescription meds you may use, especially about: cyclosporine, flecainide, beta-blockers (including eye drops), intravenous (IV) calcium, digoxin, lithium, disopyramide, hypertension drug, benzodiazepines (e.g., midazolam, triazolam), buspirone, lovastatin, quinidine, rifampin, carbamazepine, cimetidine, St John's wort. Avoid any drugs that increase your heart-rate (the decongestants phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine & phenylpropanolamine examples). These drugs commonly found in over-the-counter cough-and-cold products. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Cardizem Sr Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, weakness, slowed or irregular heartbeat, nausea, drowsiness, confusion, & slurred speech.
Cardizem Sr special notes: do not share it product with others.
If you missed Cardizem Sr dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if this is almost clock for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Cardizem Sr Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture.
Medical alert: youre condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
