Nifedipine Usage: it drug is calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction. By blocking calcium, nifedipine relaxes & widens blood vessels. this is used to treat chest pain (angina). Ask your healthcare professional or pharmacist about possible problems related to use of short-acting calcium channel blockers.

How to use Nifedipine: Capsules should be swallowed whole with full glass about water unless youre doctor directs you otherwise. this medication must be taken as directed to prevent chest pain. it isn't effective if taken only when chest pain occurs. do not stop taking this medication suddenly with out talking with your doctor. Chest pain can occur if medication is stopped too fast. your dose may need to be gradually decreased.

Nifedipine side effects: it drug may cause dizziness & lightheadedness especially during 1'st few days. Avoid activities requiring alertness. When you sit or lie down since a while, get up slowly to minimize dizziness & allow your body to adjust. You may also experience bloating, heartburn, nausea, blurred vision, muscle cramps, headache, flushing, sweating & sleep disturbances. These effects must disappear as your body adjusts to medication. Inform youre healthcare professional if they become bothersome. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: swelling of hands or feet, irregular heartbeat. in the unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek healthcare attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.

Nifedipine Precautions: Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell physician that you take this drug. Tell your doctor of any diseases you have especially about: liver disease, congestive heart failure, any allergies. do not allow anyone else to take it drug. Limit using alcohol while taking this tablet. this drug must be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. this drug is excreted in to breast milk. Though no problems have been noted, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Nifedipine pill interactions: Tell some your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you taking, especially of: beta-blockers, digoxin, quinidine, cimetidine, warfarin, intravenous (IV) calcium, barbiturates, phenytoin, magnesium sulfate injection, fentanyl, high blood pressure drugs, St John's wort. Avoid any drugs that increase your heart-rate (the decongestants phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine & phenylpropanolamine are examples). These drugs are commonly found in over-the-counter cough-and-cold products. do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless some your pharmacist instructs you otherwise. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or healthcare professional approval.

Nifedipine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat; dizziness; fainting; & loss of consciousness.

Nifedipine special notes: don't share this product with others.

If you missed Nifedipine dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Nifedipine Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in bathroom.
