Guanfacine HCL Usage: it drug is used to treat high blood pressure.
How to use Guanfacine HCL: Take this med exactly as prescribed. Try to take it at the same times each day, usually at bedtime. it medication may be taken with food if stomach irritation occurs. It's important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. most people with HBP don't feel sick. do not stop taking this drug suddenly without consulting your doctor. few conditions may become worse when drug is stopped abruptly.
Guanfacine HCL side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, constipation, gas pains, diarrhea, loss about appetite, fatigue, & nasal congestion may occur. If these symptoms persist or worsen, notify your physician. Inform youre pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of hands or feet, blurred vision, yellowing of the eyes or skin. Inform youre doctor if you experience any of these symptoms: mental/mood changes, tingling of hands or feet, dry mouth, impotence, decreased sexual desire, vision changes, taste changes, ringing at the ears, leg cramps. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Guanfacine HCL Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially about: heart or circulatory problems, kidney or liver disease, any allergies. Limit your intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. Alcohol can lead to excessive drowsiness, dizziness or fainting. Also, avoid hot showers, saunas and prolonged exercise since excessive heat can intensify dizziness. Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving), since this drug may cause drowsiness. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the physician or dentist in charge about your blood pressure drugs. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of drug. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with youre doctor. It's not known if guanfacine passes in to breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guanfacine HCL drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription meds you may use, including: barbiturates, tranquilizers, pills for depression or allergies, narcotic pain med, other medications that make you drowsy (such as certain antihistamines & anti-seizure drugs). don't take any med for coughs, colds or allergies with out 1-st checking with your physician or physician. several of these products contain ingredients that can increase blood pressure or cause drowsiness (e.g., antihistamines such as diphenhydramine). do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or physician approval.
Guanfacine HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, sluggishness, & slowed heartbeat.
Guanfacine HCL special notes: it is important to have you're blood pressure checked regularly while taking it medication. Learn how to monitor you're blood pressure. Discuss this with you're pharmacist or pharmacist. do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
If you missed Guanfacine HCL dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; don't take if it is almost time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up. dollars with your physician if 2 or more doses have been missed.
