Warning: Methylphenidate should be given cautiously to emotionally unstable patients such as those with a history of alcohol or drug abuse. Such patients may be more likely to increase their doses unnecessarily. Abuse of this medication can lead to abnormal behavior. If methylphenidate must be stopped, it must be stopped gradually over time. don't suddenly stop this medication because severe depression or hidden overactivity may occur. at few people, long-term monitoring may be required after the med is stopped.

Ritalin Sr Usage: this medication increases mental alertness. it is used in the treatment of narcolepsy (problems staying awake). It's also used in treatment of hyperactivity or attention deficit disorder. Additionally It's used for treating depression in senile, post-stroke & cancer patients.

How to use Ritalin Sr: this pill must be swallowed whole. Chewing or crushing them can destroy long action and may increase side effects. it drug is best taken 30-45 minutes before meals. If loss of appetite or stomach upset occurs. it may be taken with or after a meal or snack. Use this med exactly as prescribed. do not increase your dose, use it more frequently or use it for longer period about time than prescribed because it pill can be habit-forming. Also, if used for long period of time, do not suddenly stop using this without first consulting your doctor. When used for extended periods, this medication may not work as well & may require different dosing. Consult you're pharmacist if the med isn't working well.

Ritalin Sr side effects: Loss of appetite, blurred vision, dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, headache, stomach upset, sleeplessness, irritability or constipation may occur first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or worsen, inform some your physician. Notify your physician if you experience: weight loss, chest pain, nervousness, pounding heart, difficulty urinating, mood changes, yellowing eyes & skin. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this med, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact youre pharmacist or pharmacist.

Ritalin Sr Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: seizures or motor tics, Tourette's disorder, glaucoma, high blood pressure, severe anxiety, alcoholism, tablet dependence, mental conditions, any allergies. If it drug makes you dizzy or lightheaded, use caution driving or engaging at activities requiring alertness. Methylphenidate should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. it isnot known if methylphenidate is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Ritalin Sr drug interactions: Certain medications taken with this drug could result in serious, even death, medication interactions. Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine) within 2 weeks before or after treatment with this medication. Consult your doctor or physician for additional information. Before using this pill, tell some your doctor of every nonprescription and prescription drugs you may use, especially: 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), pills for seizures, medicine for depression (tricyclics such as amitriptyline), HBP medicine (e.g., guanethidine). do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

Ritalin Sr Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dilated pupils, vomiting, nervousness, twitching, tremors, flushing, sweating, severe or persistent headache, seizures, & loss about consciousness.

Ritalin Sr special notes: do not allow anyone else to take this medication.

If you missed Ritalin Sr dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered & take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced times. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Ritalin Sr Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store at the bathroom.
