    Oral contraceptives

    warning: Smoking cigarettes while using this drug increases your chance about having heart problems. do not smoke while using this med. risk of heart problems increases with age (especially in woman greater than 35 years about age) & with frequent smoking (15 cigarettes daily or greater).

    Brevicon Usage: it drug is used to prevent pregnancy or to regulate your menstrual cycle. Certain brands of birth control pills may be used for treating acne or as a 'morning after' tablet for emergency contraception. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist. Use about this med does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV, gonorrhea).

    How to use Brevicon: Take this drug with food or immediately after meal to prevent stomach upset. Try to take this med at same clock each day. this may help you to remember to take it. Learn proper use of youre particular brand of med. Follow your dosing schedule carefully. Be sure to ask some your healthcare professional or pharmacist if you have any questions. Use supplemental form of birth control during 1-st week about taking this med since it takes while to be effective. Follow you're doctor's directions exactly if it drug is being used as 'morning after' pill.

    Brevicon side effects: this medication can cause dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, stomach upset, bloating, or nausea. If these effects persist or worsen, contact youre doctor. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience: severe depression, groin or calf pain, sudden severe headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, lumps in breast, weakness or tingling in arms or legs, yellowing of eyes or skin. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Brevicon Precautions: Before you take this drug, tell some your doctor youre entire medical history, including family medical history, especially: asthma, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, stroke, history of jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes) or hypertension during pregnancy, excessive weight gain or fluid retention during menstrual cycle, blood clots, heart attack, seizures, migraine headaches, breast cancer, high blood level of cholesterol or lipids (fats), diabetes, depression. Depending on strength, this drug can cause patchy, darkening about skin on the face (melasma). Higher strengths more likely to cause melasma. Sunlight may intensify this darkening and you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure & sunlamps. Consult your doctor regarding use of sunscreens & protective clothing. it may take long time for you to become pregnant after you stop taking birth control tablets. Consult your physician. do not smoke cigarettes. Birth-control tablets slightly increase youre risk about strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, heart attacks, gallbladder disease, vision problems, & liver tumors. Cigarette smoking (especially 15 or more cigarettes daily) & age (women older than 35/smokers or 40/nonsmokers years about age) further increase risk of stroke, blood clots, HBP & heart attacks. Ask your healthcare professional or doctor for copy of patient labeling which explains these risks in more detail. Consult you're healthcare professional for any questions, including possible use at nonsmokers over 40 years about age. If you near-sighted or wear contact lenses, you may develop vision problems. Also, your tolerance of the lenses may decrease. Contact your eye healthcare professional if these problems occur. Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell pharmacist that you take birth control meds. this drug shouldn't be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your healthcare professional immediately. this drug passes in to breast milk. it may affect milk production and may have harmful effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Brevicon drug interactions: Tell you're physician what prescription & nonprescription meds you taking. pills that may decrease effectiveness of the pill include: griseofulvin, many antibiotics (e.g., penicillins, macrolides, tetracyclines, sulfas, cephalosporins), chloramphenicol, many seizure medications (e.g., phenytoin, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine), dapsone, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), modafinil, nevirapine, St John's wort, bosentan, certain HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., amprenavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir), troglitazone. Ask your doctor if you must use additional birth control methods while taking any of drugs mentioned above while taking birth control pills. Also tell youre doctor if you use: thyroid hormone medications, certain benzodiazepines (e.g., diazepam, chlordiazepoxide), prednisone-like tablets, certain antidepressants (e.g., tricyclics), beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol), 'blood thinners' (anticoagulants such as warfarin), insulin. this product can affect the results of certain lab tests (e.g., thyroid). Inform all laboratory personnel that you use this medication. Birth control pills may significantly intensify effects of alcohol. Consult your pharmacist or pharmacist about it. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Brevicon Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea & vomiting. Females may experience vaginal bleeding.

    Brevicon special notes: do not allow anyone else to take this pill. Keep every appointments with your physician & laboratory. You should have complete physical examination, including blood pressure measurements, breast and pelvic examinations, & a PAP test (for vaginal cancer), at least once a year. Follow your doctor's instructions for examining youre own breasts, & report any lumps immediately. manufacturer's fact sheet about this drug must be dispensed with each prescription. Read information carefully. Ask you're physician or pharmacist any questions you may have.

    If you missed Brevicon dose: Missed dose advice differs & depends on brand used, and the number about doses missed. Refer to the product package information for advice on missed doses. Ask some your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions.

    Brevicon Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in bathroom.
