Flovent Usage: Inhaled corticosteroids work directly in lungs to open airways & make breathing easier by relieving inflammation. this tablet must be used regularly to prevent wheezing & shortness of breath caused by asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. this pill does not work immediately-therefore this does not relieve acute attacks.
How to use Flovent: Make sure you understand how to use the inhaler properly. Shake the canister well before using. When using the inhaler for the first time, test unit by spraying in least once into air. fine mist indicates that inhaler is properly working. If canister has a strap attached to the cap, leave this in place. it is recommended you use spacer/holding chamber. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about this. If using without spacing device, place the canister near your mouth & exhale. Depress the canister as you inhale deeply. Hold you're breath for a some seconds to allow drug to be absorbed. Shake the inhaler again before using. If 2 inhalations are prescribed, wait in least one minute between inhalations. If using another inhalers, wait several minutes between use of inhalers and use this one (the corticosteroid) last. Gargle & rinse some your mouth after using to help prevent dryness, relieve throat irritation and to prevent oral yeast infections. do not swallow the rinse solution. Use this med exactly as prescribed. do not use it more frequently with out your doctor's approval.
Flovent side effects: may cause a cough, nasal congestion/pain, headache, unpleasant taste or hoarseness. If these continue or are bothersome, notify your pharmacist. Notify your pharmacist if you experience: a white-colored tongue or mouth, prolonged throat irritation. Very unlikely but report: breathing trouble, fever, rash, swelling of the hands or feet, vision changes. Contact your pharmacist if you experience any of following signs of low steroid levels: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, fainting, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Flovent Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially about: any allergies, another illnesses/infections, recent exposure to contagious diseases (e.g., chickenpox), glaucoma, cataracts. If within the past 12 months you have switched from an oral corticosteroid (e.g., prednisone) to this inhaler, or if you had been using it product in higher-than-usual doses and suddenly stopped using it, youre body may not produce enough natural steroids. You may need to start taking additional corticosteroids, especially if your body is stressed due to major infection, surgery or injury. Consult your doctor. If you cough up mucus that has thickened or changed color from clear white to yellow, green or gray, contact you're healthcare professional. These changes may be signs about infection. If you use medicine to open youre airways as directed during an asthma attack and your breathing does not improve, contact your doctor. Keep regular eye appointments to check for eye problems (rare) that may occur. this tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. this isnt known whether fluticasone is excreted into person milk. Because other corticosteroids are excreted, discuss risks of breast-feeding with your doctor. child & teenagers must be monitored since proper growth patterns while using any corticosteroid medicine.
Flovent drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of all nonprescription & prescription med you may take, especially of: oral corticosteroids (e.g., dexamethasone, hydrocortisone, prednisone), every medications used for asthma. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Flovent Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Flovent special notes: do not share it drug with others. Inform every youre healthcare professionals you use (or have used) it tablet.
If you missed Flovent dose: Use missed dose as soon as remembered. Use the remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals.
Flovent Storage: Store at room temperature between 36 & 86 degrees F (2-30 degrees C) away from sunlight & moisture. Keep from getting too cold or freezing.
Medical alert: your condition can cause complications in a medical emergency.
