    Warning: Methoxsalen is a powerful medication and could produce severe burns if improperly used. this drug must never be dispensed to patient. Only physician using special light conditions must apply this med.

    Oxsoralen Usage: this med is photosensitizer used in the treatment of psoriasis & vitiligo. To be effective, this med is used in conjunction with ultraviolet (UVA) light therapy.

    How to use Oxsoralen: Use this medication as prescribed. do not increase your dose or use it more often. youre condition will not clear faster, but side effects may be increased. this medication is used for small, well-defined skin lesions. Keep lesions protected from light by wearing proper clothing & using sunscreens. Because it medication makes skin extremely sensitive to sunlight, for several days, avoid exposure to the sun to prevent severe burns.

    Oxsoralen side effects: it drug increases sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid exposure to sunlight or sunlamps as directed & wear protective clothing & sunscreen. Eye damage, cataracts, skin aging and skin cancer are risks of this medication and UVA therapy. Protect eyes by using goggles during UVA therapy. it medication causes changes in skin color that can occur after a some weeks and up to 9 months. Notify your physician if you develop any of these symptoms: skin rash, stomach upset, headache, dizziness, nervousness, fever, sleeplessness, mouth sores, blisters, fluid retention, leg cramps. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Oxsoralen Precautions: Certain foods can cause reactions when eaten during methoxsalen therapy. Try to avoid them. They include carrots, celery, figs, limes, mustard, parsley & parsnips. this drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Discuss the benefits and risks with youre physician. it isn't known if this tablet appears in breast milk. Consult you're healthcare professional before breast-feeding. After use, avoid sun exposure for at least 12 to 48 hours. Wear protective clothing such as hats, gloves & UVA-absorbing sunglasses. Apply broad screen sunscreens (SPF 15) to every exposed skin including lips. Tell your doctor if you have: allergy to sunlight, infections, lupus, porphyria, skin cancer, drug allergies.

    Oxsoralen medication interactions: Tell some your physician of all prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of medications that may increase your sensitivity to sunlight such as: anthralin, coal tar, griseofulvin, phenothiazines (e.g., chlorpromazine, promethazine), nalidixic acid, bacteriostatic soaps, sulfonamides, (e.g., sulfisoxazole), tetracyclines, thiazide diuretics, dyes (e.g., methylene blue, toluidine blue, rose bengal, methyl orange). don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Oxsoralen Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Oxsoralen special notes: this medication must be taken under close medical supervision. Discuss risks & benefits about this therapy with your healthcare professional. Periodic lab tests & eye exams will be done to monitor the effectiveness about this drug.

    If you missed Oxsoralen dose: If you miss dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the following dose. Instead, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' doses.

    Oxsoralen Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight.
