Fluorouracil Usage: Fluorouracil is one of a large group of drugs known as 'antineoplastics'; these drugs are also known as cancer drugs, chemotherapy or 'chemo'. They used in treatment about various cancers to slow or stop growth of cancer cells. combination of different types of cancer drugs will often be used to achieve better results & minimize side effects.
How to use Fluorouracil: this is potent drug. Use it exactly as prescribed, with daily doses up to 800 mg. don't stop receiving treatments with this drug, even if you feel nauseated or vomiting occurs. Consult your physician or pharmacist. Follow all directions.
Fluorouracil side effects: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, rash, itchy or dry skin & weakness are common side effects. Using drug on an empty stomach may help relieve vomiting. Changes in diet, such as eating few small meals or limiting activity may help lessen few about these effects. at few cases, tablet therapy may be necessary to prevent or relieve nausea or vomiting. Temporary hair loss is another common side effect; normal hair growth should return after treatment has ended. Contact some your physician without delay if you experience any about following symptoms: fever, chills, painful or difficult urination, stomach cramps, diarrhea, heartburn, chest pain, simple bruising or bleeding, black or tarry stools, blood in urine or stools, pinpoint red spots on skin, lower back or side pain, sores at mouth or on lips, trouble with balance, cough, shortness of breath. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or pharmacist.
Fluorouracil Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially tablet allergies), blood disorders (bone marrow problems), serious infections. Birth control measures are recommended for use in men and women while using it medication. this drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult you're physician before using this drug. it is not known if it med is excreted in to breast milk. Breast-feeding isnt recommended while using this medication.
Fluorouracil med interactions: Tell some your pharmacist of all nonprescription and prescription drugs you use, especially of: leucovorin or other anti-cancer drugs. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Fluorouracil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, & intestinal bleeding.
Fluorouracil special notes: this medication can lower your body's ability to fight an infection. Notify some your pharmacist if you develop any signs of an infection such as fever, sore throat, rash or chills. Avoid touching you're eyes or inside you're nose without first washing your hands. Regular doctor visits are important. Frequent blood tests will be done to monitor therapy. Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters & avoid activities such as contact sports in order to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured. do not have immunizations/vaccinations with-out consent of youre healthcare professional, & avoid contact with person who have recently received oral polio vaccine.
If you missed Fluorouracil dose: don't double dose if missed. Contact your physician.
Fluorouracil Storage: Store at room temperature. Protect from light.
