Prevacid Usage: this pill is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat various acid-related stomach and/or throat (esophagus) problems (e.g., acid reflux or GERD, ulcers, erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome). Lansoprazole works by blocking acid production in the stomach. Lansoprazole may also be used to treat ulcers due to the long-term use about certain drugs for pain or swelling (NSAIDs-nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). in addition, this medication may be used at combination with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, clarithromycin) to treat certain types of ulcers.
How to use Prevacid: Take it medication by mouth, usually once per day, before a meal; or as directed by your doctor. Place med on youre tongue. it will break apart in less than 1 minute, with or with out water. Swallow the tablet bits. do not swallow pill whole; do not crush or chew it. the dosage & length about treatment is based on some your medical condition & response to therapy. Potent acid-reducing medicines such as lansoprazole can decrease the effectiveness of sucralfate, as well as another drugs such as antifungals ketoconazole & itraconazole. If instructed to take any of these medications while taking lansoprazole, consult you're pharmacist or pharmacist regarding the proper timing of each dose. for example, if you instructed to take sucralfate in addition to lansoprazole, It's best to take the lansoprazole at least 30 minutes before some your sucralfate. Antacids may be taken along with this drug, if needed. Use it medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Continue to take this medication for prescribed length of treatment even if you are feeling better.
Prevacid side effects: Constipation or diarrhea may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify youre healthcare professional or doctor promptly. Tell your physician immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: stomach pain. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if this occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're physician or healthcare professional.
Prevacid Precautions: Before using this medication, tell your physician or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heartburn combined with lightheadedness or sweating or dizziness, chest pain or shoulder/jaw pain especially with shortness of breath, pain spreading to arms or neck or shoulders, unexplained weight loss, liver problems, other stomach problems (e.g., tumors), any allergies (including drug allergies). it medicine contains aspartame. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition where you must restrict your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult your physician or pharmacist regarding safe use of this medicine. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Its not known whether this tablet passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding while using it medication isnot recommended.
Prevacid medication interactions: Before using this drug, tell your physician or healthcare professional of every prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially about: theophylline, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), ampicillin, iron supplements, digoxin, sucralfate, cilostazol, voriconazole. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Prevacid Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Prevacid special notes: don't share it pill with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor youre progress.
If you missed Prevacid dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near time of following dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Prevacid Storage: Store at room temperature (77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. don't store in the bathroom. Keep every medicines away from children & pets.
