Warning: this drug is strong 'water pill' (diuretic). Using too much of this drug can lead to serious water & mineral loss. Therefore, this is important you be monitored by you're physician. Promptly notify your doctor if you become very thirsty, have a dry mouth, become confused, or develop muscle cramps/weakness.

Edecrin Usage: Ethacrynic acid is a 'water pill' (diuretic) that is used to decrease amount of water at the body by increasing urination. it is used to decrease body fluid and swelling of the hands or feet (edema), & for hypertension.
How to use Edecrin: Take as directed with food or milk if this pill causes stomach upset. If this medication is used in the late afternoon or evening, you may need to urinate during the night. Consult your pharmacist regarding youre dosing schedule.
Edecrin side effects: this pill may cause dizziness & lightheadedness especially during 1'st several days as some your body adjusts to it. Rise slowly from a seated or lying position. Blurred vision, loss of appetite, itching, stomach upset, headache & weakness may also occur during initial therapy as your body adjusts to medication. Inform youre physician if you develop: muscle cramps/pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hearing difficulties. this drug increases urination. Expect this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or healthcare professional.
Edecrin Precautions: Before using this tablet, tell some your doctor your medical history especially of: kidney problems, unusual decrease in urine output, liver disease, any drug allergies. it medication can reduce the potassium levels in your blood. potassium supplement may be prescribed by your healthcare professional. Before using this tablet, tell your pharmacist if you are pregnant. It's not known if this tablet is excreted at to breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Edecrin drug interactions: Tell your physician about every prescription & nonprescription medicines you use, especially about: lithium, warfarin, aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.g., gentamicin, tobramycin), NSAIDs (e.g., indomethacin, naproxen), HBP medications, ginseng. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Edecrin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dry mouth, dizziness, excessive urination followed by decrease in amount of urine, muscle cramps, weakness, & weak or irregular heartbeat.
Edecrin special notes: don't share this tablet with others.
If you missed Edecrin dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if It's almost time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Edecrin Storage: Store in a tightly closed container at room temperature (77 degrees F; 25 degrees C). Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15 - 30 C) is permitted. do not freeze. do not store in bathroom.
